Job Overview – Indirect Tax Associate
– As an Indirect Tax Associate, you will support the company’s indirect tax function with a primary focus on
sales and use tax, excise tax, and other state and local taxes . This role partners closely with Accounting, AP, AR, Supply Chain, and Operations to ensure indirect tax compliance across a growing, multi-entity organization. You’ll play a hands-on role in day-to-day tax activities while gaining exposure to process improvement, audits, and systems.
$85,000/year
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and file accurate and timely indirect tax returns across multiple jurisdictions
Analyze transactions to ensure proper tax treatment and compliance with state and local tax laws
Maintain exemption certificates and ensure proper application
Assist with indirect tax audits and inquiries from taxing authorities
Perform account reconciliations related to indirect taxes
Support month-end and quarter-end close processes related to indirect tax
Document procedures and contribute to process improvements and automation
Stay current on indirect tax regulations and changes impacting the business
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
2–4 years of experience in indirect tax, SALT, public accounting, or a corporate accounting role with sales & use tax exposure
Working knowledge of sales and use tax and state & local tax concepts, including transaction taxability and multi-state compliance
Experience preparing or supporting indirect tax filings, reconciliations, and audit requests across multiple jurisdictions
Strong analytical skills with the ability to review transactional data, research tax issues, and resolve discrepancies
Proficiency with Excel and exposure to ERP systems (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, Dynamics, etc.); tax engines (Avalara, Vertex, OneSource) a plus
Detail-oriented, deadline-driven professional who can partner cross-functionally and is eager to grow long-term in an indirect tax role
