The Mountain Advocate , an award-winning weekly newspaper serving Knox County since 1904, is seeking an experienced and motivated

Reporter

to join our editorial staff. Based in Barbourville, Kentucky—home of Union Commonwealth University—this position offers an excellent opportunity to work in community journalism with a respected local news organization. Qualifications

Background in writing, either professionally or academically Solid, grammatically correct writing skills Basic photography and videography skills Ability to work well with the public and build community relationships Experience in graphic design and/or video editing is a plus Recent college graduates and current college students are encouraged to apply Professional dress and appearance is a must Requirements

Ability to meet deadlines and manage an organized schedule Sound judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information Flexible availability, including some evenings and weekends On-call availability as needed Must reside in Knox County, Kentucky, or be willing to commute from no more than 30 minutes away Subject to background check, motor vehicle history check, and drug screening Schedule & Employment Type

Hours:

Full-time (40 hours) with benefits available after a standard 90-day period Typical Schedule:

Weekdays; some weekends and some evenings Job Types:
