
Underground Wet Utilities Foreman

Underground Foreman – Full-time
Overview Founded in 1994, DCS Contracting, Inc. is a leading heavy civil general contractor specializing in highway, roadway, and underground utility construction in both the public and private sectors throughout the Greater Phoenix Valley. We self-perform 75% of our revenue and maintain a locally-owned operation with a skilled workforce and a focus on quality craftsmanship.
We are looking for a full-time Underground Foreman to lead our underground installations of water lines, sewer lines, and storm drains. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work and can lead a dedicated crew to success.
Responsibilities
Oversee the project/work site, ensuring safety standards are followed and quality work is performed in a timely manner.
Determine project requirements and procedures, and the required materials and workers based on project specifications.
Perform daily walkthroughs of the project/work site to confirm availability and use of proper materials and tools; recognize and address issues so that work can continue on schedule.
Resolve problems and coordinate activities for the job through collaboration and communication with other management or technical staff and contractors.
Conduct audits and quality assurance tests of work and safety matters.
Oversee and adhere to budgets and schedules for projects.
Conduct JHAs with PM/PE or General/Project Superintendent to ensure proper notification is given for inspections, surveys, and testing.
Schedule equipment needs to complete upcoming tasks with General or Project Superintendents.
Coordinate 4-week look ahead schedule with PM/PE and Superintendents.
Conduct weekly Toolbox Talk meetings on site with crew members.
Submit daily operations logs (Rule 310, Water Truck Logs, Daily Refresher, Confined Space, and Trench Inspection Logs).
Identify and recommend solutions for production problems.
Required
Tracks and records daily work quantities.
Verifies and submits daily timecards from crew members.
Assists with the assembly of work plans for major operations.
Coordinate with all new hires, crew needs, disciplinary actions, and terminations with the General Superintendent.
Schedule material through DCS Dispatch on private work.
Verify SWPP and dust control needs are addressed in designated work areas.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
Thorough understanding of underground sewer pipe installation.
Ability to read and understand MAG (Maricopa Association of Governments) specifications.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to analyze situations and identify ways to improve efficiency.
Strong leadership, verbal and written communication skills.
Thorough understanding of materials, methods, and tools used in projects.
Ability to read blueprints and other reports outlining specifications.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
At least 5 years of related underground utility construction and installation experience required.
Physical Requirements
Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat, and cold temperatures.
Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue, and to effectively jump, sprint or throw an object.
Requires good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination.
Must be able to quickly move arms and legs; excellent stamina is required.
Work in construction areas with moving equipment and active construction zones with trip and fall hazards.
Work locations: Multiple locations around the Greater Phoenix Area.
