IT Specialist – Client Networking and Cybersecurity Consultant

About the Role

This position will play a pivotal role in advising clients on optimizing their water and wastewater network infrastructure while ensuring robust cybersecurity measures are in place. This position requires a deep understanding of networking protocols, cybersecurity best practices, and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential threats.

Responsibilities for the position include:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of clients' existing network infrastructure and cybersecurity posture.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their business objectives and tailor networking and cybersecurity solutions to meet their specific needs.
  • Design and implement secure network architectures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Perform security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and address potential weaknesses in clients' systems.
  • Provide support and troubleshooting for network and cybersecurity issues, ensuring minimal disruption to clients' operations.
  • Inform and advise on the latest developments in networking technologies and cybersecurity threats, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Educate clients on cybersecurity best practices and provide training to their employees as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to explain technical concepts and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.

Job requirements for the position are as follows:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in client networking and cybersecurity consulting.
  • Strong knowledge of networking principles, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs.
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing networking equipment such as routers, switches, and access points.
  • Experience with cybersecurity tools and technologies, including antivirus software, intrusion detection systems, and penetration testing tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or equivalent are a plus.
