Director, Pharmacy 1.0DV ) -

Directs functions and activities of Pharmacy Department including both inpatient and outpatient activities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environment of care, management of information, and infection control standards.
  • Selects, trains/orients, and assigns department staff (either directly or through subordinate supervisor). Develops standards of performance, evaluates performance, and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions.
  • Develops department goals and objectives, and establishes and implements policies and procedures for department operations.
  • Develops and recommends department operating budget and ensures that department operates within budget.
  • Directs the preparation and maintenance of department reports. Prepares periodic reports for senior management, as required.
  • Develops and implements the performance improvement program for the Pharmacy Department.
  • Assures compliance with federal and state law and accrediting and licensing agencies as appropriate to department.
  • Integrates departmental services with the organization’s primary functions and coordinates with other department/services in a manner which fosters a collaborative environment for teamwork within the department and with other departments/services.
  • Ensures and role models the delivery of excellent customer service.
  • May perform clinical duties as indicated in the Pharmacist job description and competencies.
  • Secretary of Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee. Participates in the initiation, maintenance and control of hospital formulary system.
  • Evaluates programs to be implemented by the department of Pharmacy.
  • Supervises/delegates department inventory control.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree - Pharmacy
  • Preferred Education: Master of Science Degree
  • Pharmacy/Master of Business Administration
  • 5 yrs progressive responsibility or advanced degree with 2 yrs hospital experience
