Schedule: Monday through Friday, standard business hours (evenings/weekends as required)

Job Description: The Director will lead a new program area within the Volunteer Services department, focused on designing and delivering content-rich, relationship-centred programming for emerging Jewish leaders. This role aims to strengthen the organization’s visibility within the Jewish community and create new pathways to engage donors, volunteers, and advocates, particularly individuals who may feel marginalised or disconnected from existing communal networks. The Director will collaborate closely with Program Directors to ensure all initiatives align with frontline work and organizational mission.

Key Responsibilities

Program Development & Execution

Plan, coordinate, and execute at least one in-person engagement program per month, such as:

  • Shabbat dinners
  • Private dinners and parlor meetings
  • Happy hours and community gatherings
  • Advocacy and educational missions
  • Client-facing volunteer activities
  • Skills-based volunteer projects
  • Ensure all programs follow a consistent framework that fosters meaningful dialogue, relationship-building, and mission-aligned learning.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Maintain strong working relationships with Program Directors across all departments to ensure accurate and timely program content.
  • Stay informed on evolving needs and initiatives across the organization to identify new engagement opportunities.

Community Engagement & Partnerships

  • Build partnerships with Jewish communal organizations, synagogues, educational institutions, and networks to broaden engagement.
  • Identify and engage individuals and groups underrepresented in traditional communal spaces.
  • Develop pathways for participants to become ongoing volunteers, advocates, and donors.

Donor Engagement & Reporting

  • Collaborate with leadership on donor cultivation and stewardship strategies connected to engagement programming.
  • Track and report on program outcomes, participant engagement, and partnership development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Jewish communal engagement, donor stewardship, or program design
  • Strong project management and logistical planning skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Experience facilitating group dialogue and managing events from planning to execution

Special Requirements

  • Regular evening and weekend availability based on program needs
  • Ability to travel across New York City using public transportation
