Position Overview
Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Missile Defense Integration offers an excellent opportunity for a Sr Principal Agile Product Owner – Planner Product Owner (25-545) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. Located in Colorado Springs, CO, this role is crucial in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.
This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on‑site work with no remote options.
Essential Functions
- Align stakeholders need to ensure regular delivery of value to the customer
- Coordinate and prioritize needs across multiple Task Orders and products at various stages of development
- Contribute to the overall C2BMC Program Roadmap
- Assess progress and update leadership on status
- Interface with the Government
- Manage stakeholder expectations
- Collaborate with other Product Teams and ARTs to plan and deliver C2BMC releases
- Coordinate with the Planner Support Cell, Training, Platform & Infrastructure, and Technical Leadership Teams, and communicate priorities to the Product Team
- Assist in preparing and delivering briefings and demonstrations to customers
- Experience in leading and managing cross‑functional teams in developing and integrating large, complex software applications
- Extensive experience managing stakeholders in a large, complex development program
- Will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work independently, and possess the poise and flexibility needed to thrive in a highly dynamic environment
- Development of Mission or Defense Planning applications
- Experience with containerized software development and integration
- Experience collaborating with third‑party providers and coordinating with external teams
- Experience in maintaining and developing cross‑program roadmaps with dependency tracking
- Experience in business development
- Experience working directly with the warfighter to identify emerging needs
Basic Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or 12 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
- Applicants must have a current, active in‑scope DoD‑issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
- Willing to travel up to 10% for business purposes
- Proven leadership experience in full life cycle development of large, integrated DoD systems, including requirements development and interpretation, design, implementation, testing, fielding, and maintenance
- Will have demonstrated experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner
- Will have demonstrated experience in identifying customer needs and managing customer priorities
- Experience and knowledge of Earned Value Management in a software development setting
- Knowledge of common software development and management tools such as:
- Maven
- Git/GitLab
- Nexus
- Eclipse
- Experience with Agile development methodologies
- Understanding key system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases , Requirements , and SysML diagrams
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Missile Defense concepts, Battle Management and Command and Control (BM/C2) systems, mission or defense planning concepts, modeling and simulation techniques, defense communications systems, and the BMDS is highly desired
- Effective team management and leadership are valued in an Agile environment
- Experience with DoD integration procedures, Agile, and DevOps/DevSecOps practices, along with automated testing tools
- Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) is preferred
- Experience as a Product Owner or Scrum Master is a plus
- Development of command and control system applications
- Knowledge of software integration and formal testing
- Knowledge of implementing Cyber Security/RMF requirements
- Flexibility and willingness to accept unexpected tasks
- SAFe Product Manager/Product Owner (PM/PO) certification is strongly desired

Additional Northrop Grumman Information
Primary Level Salary Range: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and the current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
