Location: New York, NY | Hybrid

Overview

Our client, an architecture and engineering firm, is seeking a Director of Operations to provide leadership through strategic planning, organization, and execution of operational initiatives. Working closely with the Principals, this position will promote efficiency, optimize project delivery, and enhance team performance across the Studio. The Director of Operations will play a critical role in strengthening the firm’s operational foundation and supporting its growing and diverse portfolio of projects throughout New York City.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily operational leadership to support the firm’s objectives, initiatives, and long‑term strategic goals.
  • Act as a hands‑on execution partner to Principals and senior leadership, driving initiatives from concept through completion.
  • Reinforce and uphold organizational policies, performance standards, and company culture across the Studio.

Systems, Processes & Resource Management

  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine data‑driven operational systems, processes, and strategies, including technology platforms, reporting tools, and workflows to improve efficiency, support company objectives, and enable scalable growth.
  • Own and continuously improve the firm’s core operational systems, including resource planning, project management, accounting, and billing platforms.
  • Monitor and manage workload across Studio teams to ensure optimal utilization, productivity, and project delivery.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and implement scalable, sustainable solutions that support firm growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field (MBA preferred but not required).
  • 6+ years of hands‑on operations and project management experience.
  • Prior experience in the architecture, design, or related professional services industry preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Desire to lead in a fast‑paced, growing firm environment.
