Next Gen Pastor
Position Description
Overview
The Next Gen Pastor at LIFE Church provides vision, leadership, and oversight for all Next Generation ministries, including KidLIFE (birth–5th grade), StudentLIFE (6th–12th grade), and CollegeLIFE. This role is responsible for developing a comprehensive, age-appropriate disciple-making pathway that helps children, students, and young adults grow into lifelong followers of Jesus.
The Next Gen Pastor is a leader of leaders who builds and empowers teams rather than doing ministry alone. This pastor collaborates closely with church staff and volunteer leaders to carry out LIFE Church’s mission of loving God, loving others, and making disciples. The Next Gen Pastor also partners with parents and families, recognizing them as the primary disciple-makers in the home.
The Next Gen Pastor will promote and use LIFE Church’s BLESS discipleship model:

Key Responsibilities Vision & Strategy
Dream, plan, and implement compelling Next Gen ministries that unchurched children and students are drawn to attend and that inspire churched kids and students to take next steps in discipleship.
Design, execute, and continually refine an annual ministry plan that includes an age-appropriate disciple-making strategy for birth through college.
Align all Next Gen ministries with the overall vision, values, and disciple-making model of LIFE Church.
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, coach, and develop ministry staff and volunteer leaders as a developer of people, not a sole ministry doer.
Recruit, train, schedule, and care for volunteers across all Next Gen environments.
Build healthy leadership pipelines that identify, equip, and empower future leaders.
Family & Parent Partnership
Build and maintain strong, trust-filled relationships with families at LIFE Church.
Maintain clear, consistent, and proactive communication with parents of children and students.
Collaborate with the Lead Pastor, staff and to create training and equipping opportunities for parents to disciple their children at home.
Ministry Environments & Events
Create and sustain safe, welcoming, and engaging environments where children, students, and young adults can encounter God’s love.
Ensure all safety, security, and child protection policies are followed and regularly reviewed.
Provide oversight and leadership for camps, retreats, outreach events, and special Next Gen gatherings.
Pastoral Care & Outreach
Pastor and shepherd the children, students, and families God has already brought to LIFE Church.
Maintain a missional mindset, viewing the role as a pastor not only to those in the church, but also to the thousands of children, students, and young adults in the community who do not yet have a relationship with Christ.

Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in ministry, theology, education, leadership, or a related field.
Master’s degree (MDiv, MA in Ministry, or equivalent) preferred but not required.
Experience Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated leadership experience in children’s, student, college, family, or Next Gen ministry.
Proven experience leading and growing a ministry through teams and volunteer leaders.
Experience developing and implementing disciple-making strategies.
Experience partnering with parents and families in ministry settings.
Church or ministry staff experience strongly preferred.
Position Benchmarks The Next Gen Pastor will use the following benchmarks to develop, track and analyze key measurable:Birth–5th Grade
By the time a child enters middle school, they will have a strong faith foundation and a developing biblical worldview.
Middle School
By the time a pre-teen enters high school, they will follow Jesus by consistently practicing the LIFE Church disciple-making strategy of BLESS.
High School
By the time a student graduates from high school, they will have discipled at least one peer in the rhythms of BLESS or a similar disciple-making strategy.
College
By the time a young adult graduates from college, they will have led a disciple-making community on their campus and/or among their peers.
Parents
Parents are supported, encouraged, and equipped to actively disciple their children in the home.
Working Relationships
Reports to: Lead Pastor
Works closely with: church staff, volunteer leaders, and parents
