Job Description PURPOSE SUMMARY.
To perform a variety of specialized clerical support for elections mandated by New Mexico State Law at approved voting precincts
Responsibilities
Greets public, verifies voter registration information and provides assistance and/or directs them to the proper person or section
Responds to routine questions person-to-person regarding voting precincts and voter registration information.
Assists in issuing ballots to voters by entering information into computer software.

Qualifications
A. Education.
High School or GED preferred.
B. Experience.
One (1) year of experience performing general computer and/or office duties preferred.
C. Education / Experience substitution.
As per County Policy and/or Statuary requirements pursuant to the State of New Mexico Election Handbook.
D. Licenses/Certifications.
N/A
E. Other (e.g., post-offer medical exam, polygraph, background check, driver’s license record, etc.).
Background check. Must be a resident of Doña Ana County and registered as a voter to be hired for this position. Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) is preferred to effectively deal with monolingual citizens at voter precincts.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required by the Position
Knowledge of:
simple, routine or repetitive tasks or operations that typically include following step-by-step instructions and require little or no previous training.
Skill to:
operate a computer and applicable software, or equipment that operates repetitively, such as keyboard equipment.
Ability to:
deal with a culturally diverse population, maintaining respectful and effective cooperative working relationships with others; communicate in English and/or Spanish effectively orally and in writing.
