Position Overview Engagement and Alumni Relations Associate

Job Title: Engagement and Alumni Relations Associate Department: Advancement | Development Constituency Fundraising

The College of Arts and Sciences (ASC) engagement team is a subset of the larger college Advancement team, charged with building and deepening the engagement of alumni, donors, and friends of the college. The team’s efforts are focused on strengthening the relationship of constituents to both the college and the university, moving constituents along the engagement continuum from unaware to advocacy.

The Ohio State University College of Arts and Sciences seeks an Engagement and Alumni Relations Associate to support college-wide constituent engagement. The position will support the Engagement and Alumni Relations Consultant with developing, coordinating, and executing strategic, meaningful experiences for over 260,000+ living alumni. Our alumni community is dedicated to lifelong learning and actively seeks ways to engage with and advocate for the liberal arts.

Working in partnership with Advancement colleagues, faculty, and college leadership, and under the direction of the Engagement and Alumni Relations Consultant, the successful candidate will help implement creative, innovative strategies to increase alumni involvement. They will work in partnership with Central Advancement to understand and utilize available tools and dashboards to set goals and measure growth.

The Associate will assist with coordinating and implementing experiences that expand awareness of, and advocacy for, engagement in and giving to Ohio State and the College of Arts and Sciences. They will help develop best practices for college and department alumni boards and coordinate existing alumni volunteer engagement. The position will also assist with planning and coordinating events and programming designed to engage and strengthen connections with college constituents.

The ideal candidate will have superior customer service skills, exceptional attention to detail and strong multi-tasking and time management skills. They should bring energy, fresh ideas and confidence to the role and be able to interact effectively with a wide variety of constituents.

This role requires the ability to work a flexible schedule to include pre-planned evenings, weekends and occasional travel.

Responsibilities 70% – Assists with developing, coordinating and executing strategic, meaningful engagement experiences. Assists with implementing constituent outreach and engagement opportunities and tactics, with emphasis on relationship building. Under the direction of the Consultant, provides support for board management and coordination of volunteer opportunities and programming including the College of Arts and Sciences Alumni Society Board. Collaborates with academic leadership, faculty, and staff, and colleagues to engage alumni as volunteers and ambassadors of the college. Works in partnership with Central Advancement to understand and utilize available tools and dashboards to set goals and measure growth. Assists with planning and coordinating events and programming designed to engage and strengthen connections with college constituents.

20% – Coordinates specialized engagement opportunities specifically for high capacity – low engagement prospects in collaboration with College of Arts and Sciences development officers.

10% – Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to be stationary for hours, be mobile and lift 25-50 lbs.

Desired Qualifications

At least two years of experience in event planning, project management, alumni engagement or related work.

Experience working in an alumni/donor/customer database to include query tools, problem solving, and report generation.
