Scripps Sports Local Sales Manager

who will lead our team in delivering innovative, multi-platform advertising solutions that drive real results. With a special focus on the NHL's Florida Panthers and the excitement of championship-caliber hockey, this is your opportunity to combine your love of sports with strategic sales leadership, helping businesses grow while building lasting partnerships in a market that lives and breathes athletics year-round. What you’ll do

Collaborate with the Sr. Director, Sales (DOS) and other sales managers and departments to accomplish the objectives of the station with regard to Scripps Sports team sales and sponsorships

Help in negotiating ratings, rates and budgets for sports with local station leadership

Develop new business for the station utilizing and maximizing all station platforms including but not limited to broadcast, digital, mobile, and sponsorships

Assist AEs on key client sales calls for sports sponsorships

Develop working knowledge of local sports landscapes and leagues

Collaborate with the Director of Sales and Sales Managers to train, develop and motivate the local sales team so that revenue goals are achieved for sports budgets

Maintain positive working relationships with outside vendors

Interface with traffic systems and personnel to ensure efficient management of airtime inventory

Know the strengths and weaknesses of the competing stations, other advertising mediums and position the station accordingly

Effectively forecast sports sales revenue and manage department expenses so that financial goals are achieved

Build and maintain strong client relationships, which may include entertaining prospective and existing clients, attending sporting events or other associated functions

Collaborate with Scripps Sr. Director Sports Revenue to support the local station

What you’ll need

BS/BA in related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience

Generally, 8+ years of experience in related field preferred

Prior managerial experience preferred

Experience in Sports Business Sales on League, Team, or Media side with a proven track record exceeding revenue goals

Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits

Proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
