Job Title: Outside Sales Representative – Masonry and Residential Construction Location: New River Valley, Southwest Virginia Employment Type: Full-Time Reports To: Sales and Marketing Manager Position Summary We are seeking a results-driven Outside Sales Representative to join our team, specializing in selling building materials—specifically masonry and hardscape products—to masons, contractors, builders, and residential construction professionals. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of the construction industry and a proven ability to build long-term relationships that drive sales growth and expand territory revenue. This position plays a key role in strengthening our presence in the residential construction and masonry markets. Responsibilities
Develop and maintain strong relationships with masons, home builders, general contractors, and construction project managers. Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the residential construction and masonry markets. Provide product knowledge and technical support related to brick, block, manufactured stone veneers, natural stone, mortar, and related accessories. Conduct regular on-site visits to construction sites to support customers and identify project needs. Prepare accurate quotes, submit bids, and follow up with customers to close sales. Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to develop sales strategies. Collaborate with internal teams, including logistics, procurement, and customer service, to ensure timely delivery and high customer satisfaction. Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to promote company products and increase brand awareness. Meet or exceed established sales targets and performance metrics. Maintain accurate records of sales activity and customer interactions using company systems and tools. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications
Education and Experience Minimum of three (3) years of outside sales experience in the building products industry is required. Experience in masonry or residential construction is preferred. Proven history of achieving or exceeding sales goals. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of masonry and hardscape products including block, brick, stone, pavers, retaining walls, and mortar. Solid understanding of construction processes, materials, and industry terminology. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills. Motivated initiative-taker with the ability to work independently and manage a sales territory effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and mobile sales tools. Preferred Qualifications Existing network of contacts within the masonry or residential construction industry. Knowledge of regional building codes and industry standards. Prior experience collaborating directly with contractors and builders. Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Primarily field-based role with time spent traveling to job sites, customer locations, and industry events. Occasional office work for reporting, quoting, and meetings. Ability to travel by vehicle within the assigned territory. Ability to walk construction sites and perform light physical activity as required. Compensation and Benefits
