Job Summary

The Therapeutic Area Analytics & Insights Director - Rare Diseasedelivers high-impact, data-driven integrated insights to inform competitive strategy, access-related (e.g. rebate programs, payer coverage), and pipeline business decisions for the Rare Blood Disorders (RBD) network. This role collaborates with stakeholders to address critical business needs, ensuring insights & analytics workstreams align with strategic priorities to achieve RBD competitive near- and long-term goals and mitigate access barriers. By applying deep expertise in integrated insights (with a particular focus on Access/competitive intelligence /primary insights), this individual provides clear, actionable recommendations affecting in-line and pipeline assets. Operating within a dynamic structure, the Director adapts to shifting priorities, offering coaching and oversight to others on the team (ability to coach forecasting is a plus).

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise stakeholders to define clear, impactful business priorities within Rare Disease, and develop action plans. Develop strategic options and recommendations by synthesizing findings, connecting insights across therapeutic areas or analytic domains, and aligning them with organizational goals.
  • Demonstrate mastery in tailoring communication to specific audiences, communicating and influencing senior leaders and simplifying details for stakeholder buy-in.
  • Translate strategic vision into actionable insights by leveraging a strong analytical background and deep subject matter expertise across DDA TA capabilities to ensure successful execution of initiatives across teams and functions.
  • Sense business needs through stakeholder interactions, drive towards outcomes through high degrees of uncertainty, and lead cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Catalyze and entrench new solutions and ways of working into the business.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to deeply understand business needs, key questions, and priorities, and ensure alignment with project objectives and analytic lead direction.
  • Perform custom analyses by applying appropriate analytic techniques to address business challenges.
  • Demonstrate leadership through pro-active, informal coaching and mentorship of analysts across the team.
  • Autonomously operates and manages all levels of stakeholders (with extremely limited/no manager guidance).
  • Accountable for pro-actively providing expertise, strategic planning support and execution against evolution of DDA TA capabilities
  • Take an enterprise mindset, linking individual responsibilities with broader organization; focus on outcomes that provide most business and patient value in Rare Disease.
  • If leading 1-2 individual contributors: manage, coach, and develop individual contributors and provide oversight of their work.
  • Contribute to continuous organizational improvement by sharing best practices, identifying opportunities for automation, and enhancing the efficiency and impact of analytic workflows.
  • Play an active role in the adoption of analytical products by staying up to date on the product roadmap, participating in training, user testing (as needed), and providing constructive feedback to ensure products are integrated into workflows. Embed and integrate products into workflows and foster Data, Digital and Analytics product-first culture.
  • Effectively interact with and guide offshore teams to ensure alignment with project objectives and maintain high-quality deliverables.
  • Demonstrate mastery in DDA TA capabilities, and pro-actively help teammates build proficiency/mastery of those capabilities as well
  • Actively contribute to the community of practice through leading or sponsoring initiatives, setting strategic directions, and empowering others to engage and innovate, thereby elevating the community's impact and reach.
  • Quickly adapt to evolving priorities by working flexibly within capabilities or expertise areas to address business needs and deliver impactful insights and analytics (see below):
    • Market Research: Conduct or guide qualitative and quantitative research with patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem to assess and improve the patient experience.
    • Forecasting: Advise revenue and supply forecasts, and provide actionable insights to inform strategic business decisions.
    • Access: Apply expertise in managed care to assess the impact of payer management, coverage, coding, pricing, contracting, and other reimbursement drivers, and work to remove barriers to Genentech therapies while improving the overall customer experience.
    • Competitive Intelligence: Monitor and track the competitive landscape, assess competitive threats, and gather intelligence from key national and regional medical conferences to inform strategy and positioning.
    • Digital Measurements: Design and conduct digital analytics and performance measurement to generate insights that inform strategy.
  • Comply with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Genentech activities.


Minimum Candidate Qualifications & Experience
  • 8 years of relevant work experience (or equivalent with advanced education).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Statistics, Life Sciences, Mathematics, Computer or Physical Sciences or related field
  • Growth Mindset.
  • Experience synthesizing concise summaries focused on the key insights that inform business decisions.
  • Comfortable dealing with uncertainty in a highly-matrixed organization.
  • Strong results orientation and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Persuasive written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Desired Candidate Qualifications & Experience
  • MBA or Graduate-level Degree.
  • Experience working in Rare Disease
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in access (payer management, coverage, coding, pricing, contracting).
  • Proven track record of pro-active leadership, time-management, project management, and teamwork.
  • Exposure to pharmaceutical product development and/or commercialization.
  • Mastery in exploring large amounts of data, identifying important insights and building compelling narratives.
  • Proficiency in understanding market landscape and surfacing insights across multiple primary data sources.
  • Proficient with data analytics tools (Excel, Python, SQL, etc.).
  • Strong experience in two or more of the following areas:
    • Expertise in designing and fielding qualitative and quantitative primary market research plans.
    • Experience with revenue forecasting, including patient-flow methods, patient funnels, account-based forecasting, trend-based forecasting (short and long-term), statistical methods, and uncertainty analysis.
    • Experience building and improving forecasting models.
    • Experience with competitive intelligence experience and guiding strategies across commercial teams.
    • Experience with customer insights and guiding strategies across commercial teams.
    • Able to design and conduct digital analytics / measurements.

Location
  • This position is based in South San Francisco, CA and relocation benefits are not available.


The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco is $172,600 - $360,600. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
