We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Community Engagement and Advocacy Coordinator to join our team. This role is pivotal in mentoring BIPOC youth, leading advocacy and outreach efforts, and supporting program development. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for social change, be well-versed in youth development principles, and exhibit a profound understanding of racial and social justice issues. Key Responsibilities

Guide and support BIPOC youth through leadership, civic engagement and policy advocacy campaigns while incorporating skills learned during leadership development programs. Facilitate workshops and discussions on community organizing, civic engagement, policy advocacy, personal growth, leadership, and professional development. Workshops will take place both in the field, virtually, and also in person at our Riverside office. Collaborate on implementing justice-centered curricula and maintain relationships with program alumni. Advocacy and Outreach Lead efforts to attract and retain diverse cohorts, ensuring inclusivity and equity. Advocate for youth participants and build alliances with community organizations. Organize outreach events and develop advocacy initiatives aligned with systemic change goals. Represent the organization in community meetings, coalitions and in advocacy efforts. Build and maintain relationships with strategic partners. Program Development & Support Collaborate with GCLI staff to ensure integration of civic engagement and advocacy efforts, grassroots organizing to increase program quality and success. Assist in administrative duties and support marketing and communications, such as social media engagement. Supporting Program Manager with scheduling and staffing community events. Cultural Competency Proven track record of successfully organizing and mobilizing vulnerable communities. Demonstrate values-alignment and understanding of racial and social justice issues like anti-Black racism, immigration, climate change, and the criminal legal system. Apply transformative justice frameworks and create inclusive spaces for dialogue. Administration and Project Management Develop processes to support program outcomes and maintain accurate records. Create community networks, ensuring that all contact information, and communication channels are updated and expanded. Qualifications

Associate's degree in a related field or equivalent experience. A minimum of three years or two campaign cycles of experience in grassroots community organizing is required. 2+ years of experience in youth development, counseling, leadership, or community engagement. Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with Inland Region community-based organizations, resources, and systems. Familiarity with policy advocacy and civic engagement. Must live within 20 miles of Riverside, CA. Strong understanding of youth development principles and culturally responsive practices. Strong understanding and demonstrated commitment to systems change, racial justice, and abolition are required. Passion for inclusion, diversity, and creating safe spaces through social change. Ability to work independently or as part of a team with supervisory experience. An ability to problem solve and communicate effectively with team members, and create trust with youth from diverse backgrounds. Experience in disaster preparedness and valid CPR certification are a plus. Valid California driver’s license and familiarity with transportation safety guidelines and has a clean driving record. Must possess a reliable vehicle with valid insurance, and a clean driving record as this is a field role. We are a digitally innovative organization and have a robust tech stack. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with technology and have proficient computer skills.
