KPF , a global architecture practice headquartered in New York City, is seeking a Designer in New York City to assist their immediate supervisor in cooperation with the project team to develop high quality design and construction documents. The Designer will apply theoretical knowledge to practical application through the day-to-day tasks assigned to them.
Primary Responsibilities
Strategize overall project vision, project goals, and delivery method at various stages of the project.
Apply theoretical as well as practical architecture skills to win visionary large scale competitions as well as execute them to physical completion. Develop sustainable green building strategies for LEED certification
Make design recommendations based on functionality, physical requirements, regulatory codes, environmental rules and regulations, safety issues, infrastructure and other design and construction related factors.
Prepare tender issuance drawing sets and facade VMU (visual mock up) drawing sets for above-mentioned buildings.
Use Rhino to perform 3D modeling of complex geometries during the design process to resolve complex conditions occurring in hybrid buildings.
Apply advanced knowledge of 3ds Max and V-Ray rendering techniques to articulate experiential design ideas and demonstrate spatial quality for client’s understanding.
Use Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign software in production of presentations for client meetings, discussion and competition work.
Lead project specific coordination meetings with multi-disciplinary team and contractors.
Develop architectural façade systems for hybrid facilities involving curtain wall systems, window wall systems, exposed structural systems and structural skins for mixed-use master plans.
Collaborate and manage coordination with consultants from ancillary design disciplines of landscape design, lighting design and interior design in order to hand over a comprehensive building to the client.
Liaise with the client on all design and construction related issues, assess their needs, develop strategies to satisfy their objectives, communicate the direction with the project team and aid their marketing strategy.
Implement Revit building information modeling techniques and CAD drafting knowledge to generate complete complex construction drawing sets, regulatory agency drawing sets, tender issue drawing sets, consultant coordination drawings and presentation drawings.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
2-7 years of relevant architectural design experience
Architectural license preferred; LEED accreditation preferred
Experience with building codes, standards, building construction, and building structures
Experience with site planning, zoning analysis, and relevant code compliance
Construction Administration experience a plus
Proficiency in Revit, AutoCad, Rhino, Grasshopper, Enscape, D5, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign is required.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Effective written, verbal and overall communication skills
Strong organizational, time management skills
Exceptional problem-solving skills
Ability to work well under pressure and manage deadlines
Work Environment This position requires you to be in person in our New York office 5 days per week.
Pay Range $79,000.00 - $90,000.00 Annual
