Job summary The Sr. Specialist International Trade Compliance is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable U.S. and international trade regulations governing the import and export of Mubea parts, raw materials, tooling, and finished goods. This role supports manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, and logistics teams by providing expert guidance on customs classification, valuation, country of origin, free trade agreements, and trade remedy programs, while minimizing duty exposure and supply chain risk. Duties and Responsibilities Trade Compliance & Regulatory Management • Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations, including: • HTS classification • Country of origin determination • Customs valuation • Recordkeeping (19 CFR Part 163) • Maintain compliance with international export controls and sanctions, including: • EAR, ITAR (if applicable) • Monitor and interpret changes in trade regulations, tariffs, and trade remedy actions (e.g., Section 232, Section 301, AD/CVD). Classification & Product Compliance • Classify automotive components, assemblies, raw materials, and tooling using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule. • Partner with engineering and product development teams to review drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications for accurate classification. • Manage binding rulings, prior disclosures, and post-entry corrections when required. Free Trade Agreements & Duty Optimization • Administer Free Trade Agreements (e.g., USMCA, EU FTAs, other regional agreements): • Qualification analysis • Supplier solicitations and certifications • Annual and periodic validations • Identify and implement duty-saving programs such as: • Duty drawback • Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ) • Temporary Importations under Bond (TIB) • First Sale (if applicable) Broker & Supplier Management • Act as primary point of contact for customs brokers and freight forwarders. • Review and audit broker entries to ensure accuracy and compliance. • Train and guide suppliers on compliance requirements, documentation standards, and origin certifications. Audits, Reporting & Risk Management • Conduct internal audits of import and export transactions. • Prepare Post Summary Corrections (PSC). • Support CBP audits, Focused Assessments, and internal compliance reviews. • Maintain compliance metrics, KPIs, and documentation for management reporting. • Investigate and resolve customs issues, holds, penalties, or seizures. Cross-Functional Collaboration • Provide trade compliance guidance to purchasing, logistics, finance, and manufacturing teams. • Support new supplier onboarding and new product launches from a compliance perspective. • Assist with M&A, supplier changes, and sourcing shifts affecting trade compliance. Your profile Education & Experience • Bachelor's degree in international Trade, Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or a related field. • 3-7+ years of international trade compliance experience, preferably in automotive or manufacturing. • Hands-on experience with HTS classification and CBP regulations required. Technical Skills • Strong working knowledge of: • U.S. import/export regulations • USMCA and other FTAs • Section 232 / 301 tariffs • Experience with ACE and broker software. • Advanced Excel skills; experience with data analysis and audit reporting.
