As Director, Site Delivery, you will be the accountable owner for the delivery of a portfolio of our new sites. We are headquartered in Houston, San Francisco, and Kansas, and are rapidly expanding our footprint across new sites.
The Role
As Director, Site Delivery, you will be the accountable owner for the delivery of a portfolio of our new sites. You will drive execution across multidisciplinary teams — including business development, permitting, subsurface/geoscience, engineering, external affairs, finance, and construction — ensuring sites advance on schedule, within approved plans, and in alignment with company priorities. This role combines senior-level project and program management rigor with real decision authority and end-to-end ownership. You will apply disciplined project management practices (planning, sequencing, risk management, stage gates) while also making day-to-day delivery decisions, resolving tradeoffs, and escalating issues that exceed defined authority thresholds. Scope may include multiple sites at different stages of development and will be determined by project complexity, portfolio needs, and team capacity. This role will directly manage a PMO Coordinator, potentially multiple in the future. This role will report directly to the CEO.
Responsibilities
- Delivery Ownership & Decision Authority: Serve as the single accountable owner for delivery of assigned site development projects following strategic approval.
- Make day-to-day decisions within approved scope, budget, and schedule parameters; escalate material deviations or structural changes to executive leadership.
- Drive projects through defined stage gates, ensuring readiness criteria, risks, and dependencies are clearly understood and actively managed.
- Project & Program Management Execution: Apply rigorous project and program management practices, including integrated planning, dependency management, critical path scheduling, risk tracking, and decision logging.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects at different stages, balancing priorities, capacity, and sequencing across the portfolio.
- Establish and maintain clear delivery plans, milestones, and performance metrics (e.g., time-to-next-gate).
- Cross-Functional Integration: Coordinate and align work across business development, permitting, subsurface/geoscience, engineering, external affairs, finance, and construction teams.
- Resolve cross-functional dependencies and conflicts, ensuring timely inputs and clear ownership across workstreams.
- Lead cross-functional forums to drive clarity, momentum, and accountability.
- Escalation & Leadership Engagement: Surface material risks, blockers, or tradeoffs early, with clear framing and recommended options.
- Prepare concise updates and recommendations for site-level and portfolio-level leadership reviews.
- Represent assigned sites in executive discussions as needed.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Continuous Improvement: Serve as a primary point of coordination for internal stakeholders and select external partners related to site delivery.
- Support development of delivery standards, templates, and playbooks to improve consistency and scalability.
- Manage a PMO Coordinator to ensure strong execution discipline and information flow.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in senior project or program management roles with accountability for complex industrial, infrastructure, or capital projects (e.g., energy, waste management, renewables, construction, heavy industry).
- Demonstrated track record of owning end-to-end project outcomes — delivering on time, on budget, and within regulated environments.
- Hands-on experience with permitting processes, engineering workflows, construction planning, and real-world execution constraints.
- Strong judgment and comfort making delivery decisions under ambiguity.
- Deep project management craft paired with an ownership mindset.
- Ability to lead across functions without direct authority.
- Clear communicator with technical, commercial, and executive audiences.
- Proactive, disciplined, and solutions-oriented approach to risk and delivery.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, project management, or related field (advanced degree or PMP a plus but not required).
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects preferred.
You’ll Thrive Here
- You enjoy being accountable for outcomes, not just tracking inputs.
- You bring structure, rigor, and momentum to complex, real-world projects.
- You’re comfortable owning decisions and tradeoffs in imperfect conditions.
- You’re motivated by delivering industrial projects with real climate impact.
