The Opportunity

A growing wealth management firm is hiring a Director of Financial Planning to lead and develop a team of client-facing Financial Planners. You’ll set the standard for planning excellence, drive consistency across offices, and help shape the future of the firm’s planning practice—while directly improving client outcomes.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, coach, and develop Financial Planners across multiple locations; build a culture of accountability and collaboration.
  • Provide technical and strategic guidance on complex planning cases (tax, estate, insurance, investments, retirement).
  • Create and maintain consistent planning processes , client experience standards, and best practices firmwide.
  • Partner with leadership to drive revenue growth, retention, and client outcomes .
  • Participate on the investment committee to support consistent portfolio strategy and recommendations.
  • Serve as an escalation point for high-value or complex client situations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with compliance, operations, marketing, and client service to ensure strong execution and regulatory alignment.

What You Bring

  • 7–10+ years in financial planning / wealth management within an RIA setting, with progressive responsibility.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience (managing, mentoring, or formally leading planners).
  • Licensure such as Series 65 or Series 7 + Series 66 (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated success in business development and client acquisition (strong producers encouraged to apply).
  • Ability to balance growth with a high bar for client experience .
  • Strong coaching, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Comfortable with planning tools + CRM/portfolio platforms (e.g., Salesforce/Orion or similar) and MS Office.
