Job Summary Shambaugh & Son L.P. is seeking a Data Entry Clerk in Fort Wayne, IN. In this position, you will be responsible for assisting in various accounting areas including but not limited to data entry and back‑up for various Business Services positions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Accurately enter and verify employee timesheet data and other payroll‑related information into the payroll system on a weekly basis.
Input and process journal entries and cost center allocations within the accounting software.
Organize, file, and maintain both digital and physical accounting records and documents in an orderly and accessible manner.
Manage and update various procedural checklists (e.g., month‑end close checklist) to ensure all required tasks are completed accurately and on schedule.
Provide occasional coverage for the main switchboard, answering incoming calls, directing callers to the appropriate department, and taking messages as needed.
Verify accuracy of vendor invoices against purchase orders or receiving documentation.
Operate high‑speed scanners to convert physical records into digital formats.
Provide administrative and data entry support for various ad‑hoc accounting projects, audits, or peak workloads as directed by senior staff.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Prior experience working in a receptionist or general office administration role is highly preferred.
Understanding of basic office procedures and professional communication.
Proven ability to perform high‑volume, accurate data entry tasks efficiently.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to process information quickly while maintaining a low error rate.
Must demonstrate high proficiency with a 10‑key calculator or numeric keypad for rapid and accurate entry of numerical data.
Working knowledge and proficiency in common office software is beneficial, including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and familiarity with database systems like Lotus Notes or similar platforms.
Exceptional organizational abilities with a strong capacity for time management.
A commitment to accuracy and thoroughness in all work performed.
Possess a strong work ethic, reliability, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.
