Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Associate Director – Development, Cancer. In this role, the successful candidate will play an important role within the Office of Development & Alumni Affairs under the guidance of Senior/Campaign Directors. The position manages a portfolio focused on $50K+ gifts, with an annual target of $3M to $5M and a goal of closing 40+ gifts at the $50K+ level. The ideal candidate is committed to NYULH’s mission, possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills, and is energetic and resilient in the face of academic medical fundraising challenges.

Job Responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of prospects with capacity to give $50K+.

Collaborate with Senior/Campaign Directors, faculty, and staff to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and prospects with wealth capacity.

Document all development activity related to identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship using the TRAX database.

Coordinate prospect research with the Prospect Research Management and Strategy team to identify new major donor prospects from patient databases and other sources.

Work strategically and collaboratively with cross‑functional teams across Major Gifts, Donor Experience, Alumni, Stewardship, Communications, and Development Administration to advance gift strategy.

Assist in developing event opportunities for cultivating and stewarding major donors, including creating event materials and presentations.

Research and write briefings to prepare faculty and executive management for effective meetings with major donors.

Develop a working knowledge of the Medical Centers and Departments’ goals, priorities, and programs to support successful fundraising.

Liaise with the Development Communications team on materials highlighting programs.

Prepare letters of inquiry and proposals on behalf of NYU Langone faculty.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree and 5–8+ years of experience in major gifts, including raising $50,000+ gifts. You should have experience managing and expanding fundraising leadership boards, demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, and be self‑motivated, outgoing, and results‑oriented. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and development database experience is required. Experience in academic medical center fundraising and a strong understanding of the philanthropic landscape in cancer research and treatment are essential.

Preferred Qualifications Experience in academic medical center fundraising and 2 years of management experience are preferred.
