Gantri, San Leandro, California, United States, 94579

Save Job

About the Role Gantri is building a new manufacturing paradigm for furniture: digital, on-demand, and design-led. The Director of Operations will own the day-to-day execution and continuous improvement of Gantri’s manufacturing operations, supply chain, and facilities.

This is a highly quantitative and people-centric role. You will be responsible for turning complexity into repeatable, scalable systems—while building a world-class operations team with clear career paths and high accountability.

You will report to the CEO and work closely with product, engineering, and commercial leaders.

You will own Manufacturing Operations

Own end-to-end factory performance across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and throughput

Identify and eliminate bottlenecks across production flow, labor, equipment, and materials

Establish clear operational metrics (OEE, throughput, yield, scrap, labor efficiency, unit cost) and run the factory to numbers

Drive continuous improvement using structured methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, theory of constraints, etc.)

Scale production volume and SKU complexity without linear increases in headcount or overhead

Partner closely with engineering teams to improve manufacturing flow and efficiency through software, automation, and robotics

Translate engineering capabilities into stable, repeatable production systems on the factory floor

You will own Supply Chain

Own supply chain strategy and execution, including sourcing, vendor management, inventory planning, and BOM cost control

Build resilient supply chains that balance cost, quality, lead time, and risk

Partner with engineering and materials teams to industrialize new materials and components

Anticipate and manage cost volatility (materials, tariffs, logistics) with data-driven decision making

You will own Manufacturing System Scale & Replication

Design Gantri’s manufacturing system to be modular, documented, and repeatable

Prepare the factory, processes, tooling, software workflows, and operating playbooks for replication across multiple production sites

Define the standards required to launch new facilities with predictable performance on cost, quality, and throughput

Work cross-functionally to ensure new sites can be stood up efficiently without degrading operational excellence

You will own Shaping Your Team

Build, lead, and develop high-performing operations teams across manufacturing, supply chain, and facilities

Create clear career paths, progression frameworks, and skill development for frontline workers and managers

Establish a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement on the factory floor

Be a visible, trusted leader in the factory—respected by operators, engineers, and executives alike

What Success Looks Like

Factory performance is predictable, measurable, and continuously improving

Unit economics improve quarter over quarter through efficiency gains, not shortcuts

Bottlenecks are proactively identified and resolved before they constrain growth

Engineering-driven improvements reliably translate into production gains

The manufacturing system is ready to be replicated across new sites with confidence

The operations team is engaged, motivated, and growing into increasingly senior roles

Who You Are

An exceptional operator who is deeply fluent in numbers, metrics, and systems

Equally strong on the factory floor and in the boardroom

Calm, rigorous, and decisive in complex, fast-moving environments

Obsessed with root causes, not symptoms

A builder of teams and leaders, not just processes

Background & Experience

10+ years of experience in operations leadership roles

Held senior leadership positions (Director / Head of Operations or equivalent) at operationally complex, technology-driven companies

Experience in industries such as automated warehousing or fulfillment, construction tech, EV, advanced manufacturing, robotics, or similar

Proven track record of scaling operations while improving cost, quality, and reliability

Hands-on experience running factories or large-scale physical operations
