DC Squared is seeking a hands-on, solutions-oriented
Program Director
to lead the day-to-day execution of all programs across the organization’s evolving portfolio. This role serves as the operational backbone of DC Squared and is the Executive Director’s primary collaborator and delegate. The Program Director will oversee the implementation of corridor-based workplans, grant-funded initiatives, events, volunteer management, and public-facing engagements. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, small-team nonprofit environment and brings strength in execution, adaptability, and strong administrative and financial management skills. This role is central to delivering on DC Squared’s mission through direct program coordination, stakeholder engagement, and operational oversight. Key Responsibilities
Program & Corridor Management
Lead the implementation of DC Squared’s Main Street programs, food access efforts, and civic initiatives. Develop and manage timelines, deliverables, and reporting requirements across all active programs. Maintain a regular physical presence on commercial corridors to support small businesses and monitor conditions. Manage storefront improvement efforts, activation initiatives, marketing campaigns, and merchant outreach. Grants, Data & Compliance
Track all grant deliverables, reporting requirements, and program metrics. Draft and submit reporting documents in collaboration with the ED and bookkeeper. Monitor budgets and allowable expenses; manage project-level spending and documentation. Ensure data integrity across Salesforce, Asana, Google Drive, and other systems. Volunteer & Community Engagement
Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for events, outreach, and program support. Serve as the point of contact for all community-facing programmatic initiatives. Work with the Board’s Volunteer Engagement Chair to build systems for onboarding, recognition, and evaluation. Operations, Inventory & Events
Manage program-related procurement, vendor communication, and event logistics. Track inventory of DC Squared assets, ensuring proper check-in/check-out and storage. Coordinate shipping and receiving of materials in alignment with internal protocols. Support the planning and on-site execution of quarterly events and corridor activations. Communications & Documentation
Draft program updates, partner communications, and internal memos as needed. Ensure that calendar-based planning, shared files, and digital systems are well maintained and up to date. Support content collection and impact storytelling in coordination with the ED. Responsible for managing all DC Squared social media platforms, including content planning, posting, and engagement across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. Leads development and distribution of the organization’s newsletter, and ensures timely updates and outreach for all major programs, events, and announcements. Oversees external communications, including flyers, e-blasts, press releases, and website content in coordination with the Executive Director. Qualifications
5+ years of experience in program coordination, community development, economic development, or nonprofit operations. Proven ability to lead the execution of multi-faceted initiatives with minimal oversight. Highly organized with strong systems-thinking and documentation habits. Proficient in Google Suite, Asana, Salesforce, and cloud-based project tracking tools. Familiarity with government grants management, or similar reporting structures preferred. Ability to manage volunteers, vendors, and logistics in dynamic settings. Comfortable with fieldwork, flexible hours, and both hands-on and administrative tasks. Must be able to
lift and transport up to 50 pounds
of equipment, event materials, or supplies as needed. Must have
reliable access to a personal vehicle
and a valid driver’s license for regular transportation of materials and travel between program sites. Compensation & Structure
