A Carter Lumber Multi-Family Component/Truss Estimator is responsible for performing material take-offs for buildings, with a focus on multi-family construction. This role requires a thorough understanding of construction industry concepts, practices, and procedures. Understanding of multi-family construction standards Ability to read blueprints 3-4 years’ experience in multi-family truss design or truss estimating Experience in building material sales Familiarity with professional estimating software Strong proficiency in MiTek truss design software (preferred); familiarity with ITW/Alpine is a plus Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook Responsibilities
Estimating: Conduct material take-offs for multi-family designs using various blueprints in a timely manner Review construction documents to understand the materials required for bids Identify and correct potential inaccuracies in material lists Interpret architectural and structural plans to generate truss layout Collaborate with other Component/Truss Designers to ensure accurate truss and panel specifications Field Support: Works directly with the outside sales representatives regarding all aspects of blueprints. Follows up with the status of take-offs and assists Outside Sales Representatives/Installed Sales Manager in the selling of projects. Benefits
