Cowdin Design + Build is a focused residential design-build firm serving Metro Detroit's west side. We complete 10-13 major remodels per year—whole‑home renovations, kitchens, primary suites, additions, and exterior transformations—executed with craftsmanship, clarity, and an exceptional client experience.
We're hiring a Sales + Estimating Consultant who can meet homeowners, scope projects, build budgets, and close contracts. If you understand residential construction and you're confident talking scope, budget, and timelines with clients, this role gives you real upside without the chaos.
The Role This position blends client‑facing sales with front‑end estimating/budgeting. You'll guide homeowners from first call to signed agreement—qualifying fit, clarifying scope, creating an initial budget that holds up, and handing off aligned projects to design/production. You'll have support from our internal team, but you must be comfortable owning the front end.
What You'll Do Sales + Client Consultation
Respond to inbound leads and convert them into signed design‑build agreements
Run phone screens, in‑home consultations, and site walks
Qualify budget, timeline, decision makers, and project fit (and walk away from poor fits)
Educate clients on Cowdin's design‑build process and set clear expectations
Present proposals confidently and close contracts
Estimating + Pre‑Construction Budgeting
Build clear preliminary budgets based on site conditions, scope, and finish level
Translate client goals into defined scope and allowances that are buildable
Coordinate with the internal team for pricing input, feasibility, and scope clarity
Identify risk early (hidden conditions, access constraints, structural unknowns) and set assumptions
Keep estimates organized and documented for a clean handoff
Pipeline + Relationships
Maintain pipeline activity and notes in the CRM (we'll train)
Build referral relationships with realtors, designers, and local partners
Keep communication tight, professional, and responsive throughout the sales phase
Who This Is For

An estimator or PM‑type who's naturally client‑facing and wants income tied to results
Someone who can explain construction details clearly without overwhelming homeowners
A professional who qualifies honestly, protects margin, and represents the brand well
Requirements
Proven success in residential remodeling sales, estimating, or closely related roles
Strong communication, organization, and follow‑through
Comfortable selling projects in the mid‑to‑high five figures through six figures
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Design‑build experience is a plus (not required)
Compensation (Base/Draw + Commission) This is a performance‑paid role designed to mirror ownership‑style upside without ownership risk.
Base salary or recoverable draw (based on experience)
Commission on signed contracts
Higher commission rate on self‑generated work
No cap on earnings
Realistic top‑end earnings: up to $170,000+ with consistent production
Base can increase after proven, repeatable sales performance
