
Community and Digital Engagement Manager

Position Overview
Reporting to the Chief Membership and Marketing Officer (CMMO), the Community and Digital Engagement Manager is responsible for maintaining the Society’s digital platforms, including the website and microsites, online communities, resource libraries, email communications and search functionality. This role serves as the Society’s in-house expert on our primary communication platforms, Higher Logic Thrive and Informz, overseeing day-to-day administration, maintenance, and optimization of these systems. The Manager ensures that digital content is current, accurate, engaging, searchable, and accessible; that our online community groups are maintained with current member data and accessibility; and that the Society’s digital presence reflects its mission and most up-to-date programming and content. The role also supports the iMIS membership database, which feeds critical data to our Higher Logic platforms. This requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders and the external IT partner to maintain clean data, efficient workflows, and a seamless user experience. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in Higher Logic platforms, familiarity with iMIS, excellent organizational skills, a member-first mindset, and a passion for facilitating meaningful community engagement.
Key Responsibilities Digital Community & Content Management
Serve as the Society’s primary administrator for Higher Logic platforms, ensuring the website, online communities, microsites, and resource libraries are current, accurate, easy to navigate, and optimized for search.
Manage and update digital content across all websites in collaboration with relevant staff.
Facilitate member engagement by supporting community discussion groups, posting and managing content as directed, organizing resources, and monitoring membership and activity.
Support staff and volunteer leaders in maximizing use of community tools for collaboration, discussion, and resource sharing.
Leverage the use of AI where feasible (and consistent with Society policy) to create efficiencies.
Email Communications Management
Build, schedule, and deploy Society email communications through Higher Logic Informz, including newsletters, event promotions, announcements, and other content/key takeaways.
Configure and maintain automation rules and other platform tools to reduce manual work.
Maintain and manage subscriber lists, preferences, and segmentation in alignment with iMIS membership data.
Ensure dynamic content, personalization, and templates function properly and reflect brand standards.
Track campaign performance and prepare analytics summaries to inform enhancements and decision‑making.
Website & Digital Platform Administration
Oversee the structure and functionality of the Society’s website, event, and chapter microsites within Higher Logic Thrive, working with internal teams to ensure content accuracy and optimal navigation.
Publish and update web content for events, programs, committees, chapters, and Society-wide initiatives.
Manage conference mobile app, including integration, set‑up, content, etc.
Conduct periodic audits to identify broken links, outdated resources, and system errors. Troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate with vendor support when needed.
Identify opportunities to improve the member experience through site enhancements and operational efficiencies.
Partner with search engine provider to ensure website content is fully searchable.
iMIS Data & Platform Integration Support
Maintain understanding of how iMIS integrates with Thrive and Informz to ensure smooth data synchronization for member profiles, permissions, and conference/event registration.
Run reports, queries, and exports from iMIS to support communications, community engagement, and program operations.
Partner with membership and IT teams to maintain data integrity, update records, and identify workflow improvements.
Support membership renewal, event registration, and constituent data processes that rely on accurate platform integration.
Analytics & Reporting
Monitor engagement trends across community groups, website activity, email campaigns, and resource usage.
Create dashboards and provide insights to internal teams to support community building, content planning, and operational decision‑making.
Recommend improvements to digital workflows, community features, and user experience based on analytics and member feedback.
Strategic and Operational Contribution
Actively participates in the Society’s strategic and operational planning processes, contributing ideas, insights, and feedback to support long‑term success.
Works with CMMO and others to develop and track execution of annual plans for marketing, including digital marketing campaigns, the website, digital advertising, other communication platforms.
Works with CMMO to develop, maintain, revise, and ensure adherence to written standard operating procedures to govern the Society’s digital marketing, website, communities, and other communication platforms.
Maintains awareness of key organizational priorities and external market developments and evolving practices, and collaborates across teams to help ensure sustained progress toward shared objectives and performance benchmarks.
Serves as a brand ambassador for the Society, upholding its values and mission in all interactions and communications, and promoting a positive, inclusive experience that supports member engagement and growth.
Qualifications
Four to six years of experience managing digital community, website, or communications platforms, ideally within a membership association or similar environment.
High level of expertise in current iteration Higher Logic Thrive (community + CMS) and Higher Logic Informz (email marketing) required.
Experience working with iMIS or another association management system strongly preferred.
Deep understanding of online community engagement, digital content management and search engine optimization (SEO), and user experience best practices.
Proficiency in HTML formatting and web content editing; comfort troubleshooting platform issues.
Experienced in setting up and analyzing conversion tracking and campaign performance using tools such as Google Analytics (GA4), Google Tag Manager, and UTM parameters.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and organization.
Ability to collaborate effectively, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality work in a fast‑paced environment.
