
Overview
Lobo Ambassadors exemplify the Lobo Experience and act as a guide and mentor to incoming Sul Ross students. Lobo Ambassadors will assist the Office of New Student Programs with the management and implementation of programming, including NSO; Sully Showcase; Campus Tours; and other orientation/retention related activities. This includes guiding new students and families, introducing students to their academic departments, facilitating icebreakers and community building, addressing questions professionally, attending regular meetings, helping in event planning, and showing concern for the academic wellbeing of fellow students. Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student for the Fall and/or Spring semesters of the academic year. Attend all training and mandatory meeting events or assigned functions and be consistent in attendance and responsibilities. Have no major current or pending disciplinary sanctions. Maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA per year. Be in good standing with the University. Be eligible to work in the United States. Support recruiting efforts with trips to local schools. Help with department marketing efforts. Provide preliminary research support and practice data processing. Help with scheduling students for advising and pre-planning. Aiding faculty in classroom/curriculum planning. Provide help as needed for program development within the department. Aiding in department retention efforts. Qualifications & Requirements
Will work 3-20 hours per week. Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student for the Fall and/or Spring semesters of the academic year. Lobo Ambassadors will meet bi-weekly with the Lobo Ambassador Coordinator. The Department Supervisor will meet with the Department Lobo Ambassador at end of the semester and share an evaluation of the student’s efforts. A copy of the evaluation will go to the Lobo Ambassador Coordinator. Lobo Ambassadors will complete an evaluation of the program at the end of the semester. The Department will provide day-to-day supervision of the Lobo Ambassador. Lobo Ambassadors work 4-15 hours per week (no more than ten hours if also a Residential Advisor). The Lobo Ambassador program includes engagement in Lobos LEAD and other leadership development activities as described above. Equal Opportunity
