The Role
As a key member of our Product & Merchandising Group (PMG), this position provides product and operations support to our Beer, Wine, and Spirits department programs and supports product integrity companywide. This role is field-based and works directly with stores to support program execution, quality, tracking performance, ordering processes, and merchandising standards. The Wine, Beer, & Spirits Merchandiser provides ongoing in-store education emphasizing guest service and solutions, product knowledge, merchandising, schematic integrity, department standards, backroom systems, inventory management, restocking/recovery efficiencies, product rotation, and shrink reduction standards. This role also directs visual merchandising and display standards; supports department standards, spec and set compliance, and quality control. Works directly with store leadership to ensure successful program execution on a daily basis. More About What You'd Do
Under the supervision of the Director, Center Store, and in partnership with the Wine, Beer, & Spirits Category Manager (WBSCM), creates and implements in-store product/program education, training, and quality control standards; including utilizing tools to minimize out-of-stocks, missing item opportunities, productivity standards, net margin reports, and accuracy between store locations. In partnership with the Director, Center Store and WBSCM, develops and implements companywide Wine, Beer, & Spirits product management and merchandising standards; maintains propriety and branded products and programs; ensures sales plans, merchandising, and playbook are executed on target and to program quality standards; confirms accuracy between store locations. Supports and helps maintain all company, store, and department policies and procedures, including those relating to cleanliness, shelf conditions, service standards, food quality and safety, receiving, merchandising, signage, and POS; ensures compliance with all government regulations. Provides leadership for companywide Wine, Beer, & Spirits team members, including product merchandising, training, motivation, communication, and sharing of the Company vision; leads by example, and provides team members with clear expectations and timely feedback; mentors Wine Stewards and leads efforts for training, development, and effectiveness; works to identify and foster potential talent for key leadership positions within the Wine, Beer, & Spirits department. In partnership with the Director, Center Store and the WBSCM, monitors department performance against budgets for sales, gross profit, labor, shrink, inventory, etc.; identifies opportunities and solutions; takes action as needed. Supports or executes equipment purchases to support programs and store standards. Works with the Store Director Team as needed, to help address team member or department performance issues (e.g., provides the Store Director Team with relative information so the Store Director may follow-up with the team member). Works with Wine Stewards and receiving teams to ensure receiving practices are followed according to company standards; collaborates with store teams and vendors to manage logistics of ordering and receiving loads. Supports the planning and execution of remodels and new store openings; leads category resets as needed, determines daily reset/remodel schedule and all communications, works with Store Planning to secure equipment needs and confirms delivery in full. Works with WBSCM in support of schematics execution and company guidelines. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director, Center Store. What We're Looking For
Minimum of three years supervisory experience in Wine, Beer, & Spirits strongly preferred. Possesses a strong knowledge and understanding of Wine, Beer, & Spirits Department requirements, including merchandising, department resets, schematic integrity, and product knowledge. Possesses comprehensive product information with a proven history of using knowledge to train team members and best service guests. Able to create, develop, and execute processes and programs to meet department standards. Proven ability to positively affect sales and manage profit and loss. Proven ability to effectively delegate and follow-through in a timely manner. Demonstrates a high-level of self-motivation; takes initiative; problem solves. Exhibits a can-do attitude; flexible and able to quickly adjust to changing priorities; proactively offers solutions to obstacles and challenges. The ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and produce quality output while working within deadlines is a must; sense of urgency required. Excellent time management and organizational skills. A proven ability to interact and perform all job responsibilities with professionalism and confidentiality is essential. What We Offer
