
Commercial Director - Aluminum

This position is responsible for overseeing commercial administration for North America Aluminum Flat Rolled Products including but not limited to; the development of strategy, customer proposals, management of national accounts, sales supervision, and volume-mix-margin evaluation within regions. This position reports to the Vice President of Non-Ferrous Flat Rolled Products.
This is a remote position with extensive travel.
Job Responsibilities
Assess and define Aluminum flat rolled product market demand at a macro level, then evaluate specific product and service needs at the submarket level, identifying strategic target market segments and customer targets.
Lead and collaborate with the regional non-ferrous commercial teams consisting of Commercial Directors, Territory Managers, and Inside Selling Teams providing leadership towards reaching Company objectives in productivity, quality and volume while maintaining high departmental standards of customer service and product knowledge.
Regular review of the Non-Ferrous forecast and shipments ensuring that margin and volume expectations are met and as necessary developing and implementing improvement initiatives.
Regular review of customer inventory levels with materials management and account managers to ensure control goals are met and investments protected. Resolving issues independently or collaboratively and if necessary, driving intervention from the VP to resolve issues in violation of Company policy.
Assist in the purchase of special customer inventory in accordance with established policies and procedures to optimize turnover and return on sales.
Participating as an active member of the senior leadership in review of all areas of the segment’s operation to ensure Company policy procedure and financial objectives are met.
Develop sales policies, goals and objectives to maximize revenues and gross margin dollars for the market segment.
Select, develop and motivate employees ensuring fair and consistent treatment within applicable laws, policies and EEO guidelines to maintain the continuity of a competent workforce
Establish, implement and monitor marketing plans and strategies to maintain and increase share of the market.
Contact customers and potential customers to maintain/develop an effective business relationship, target and strategic.
Develop, monitor and approve the sales and expense budget.
Assist in the development of pricing and credit policies to maximize return on sales.
Direct the preparation of sales reports and data to monitor the overall sales effort to ensure achievement of sales objectives; keep the VP informed of progress, problems and trends; and make recommendations for improving revenue and gross margin.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
7+ years of sales and marketing experience in Aluminum flat rolled processing
5+ years supervisory experience preferred
Market knowledge and associated established relationships with high volume consumers of aluminum flat rolled product in the industrial market segments including pleasure boat, pontoon, heavy truck and trailer markets as examples
Skills and Abilities
Proven track record of excellence in sales
Experience leading and motivating a sales team
