Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director of the Geyer Family Center, the Aquatics Director plans, organizes and supervises the daily operations of the programs and activities of the YMCA of Montclair Geyer Family Center location. The Geyer Family Center instructs 400+ participants in each session of swimming lessons. The Aquatics Director will work collaboratively with the Aquatics Director at the Park St. location to ensure program objectives are met consistently across the association. This position is expected to train lifeguards and swim instructors and to provide a leadership presence during peak times of high swimmer volume and swim lessons. Creates a positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Bachelor of Science in Physical Education or its equivalent in education and/or experience. Minimum age of 21 with a minimum of 3 years’ aquatics management experience. Current YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor certification or obtain within 90 days Current WSI or YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Certification preferred and obtain trainer status within 1 year of hire. American Red Cross Lifeguard Management required within the first 30 days of hire. CPO certified or required in the first year. Ability to lead others and to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Ability to communicate effectively-verbally and in written form-with members, staff and volunteers Maintain all required certifications (active) Must have a CPR/AED and First Aid Certification OR get certified within 90 days of employment.
