Under limited supervision, directs and participates in the maintenance of the golf course and the maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment. Performs golf course maintenance and other landscape duties on the golf course property. The Sr. Golf Course Turf Specialist uses and operates golf course maintenance and/or landscaping tools and equipment as needed, to maintain golf course property and landscapes. Functions of the Sr Golf Course Turf Specialist are as follows : Assists in personnel management, risk management and evaluation, including the supervision of employees and the use of the equipment. Instructs, performs and supervises pesticide applications and/or operates and calibrates pesticide application equipment. Keeps current with chemical labels and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Promotes and implements current safety practices that are outlined and instructed. Maintains chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with county, state and federal regulations. Responsible for the safety and direction of chemical handlers and/or helpers. Performs routine safety inspections on all spraying equipment. Prepares clear and concise periodic reports for the Golf Course Superintendent and maintains accurate record of all chemical and fertilizer applications. Tracks chemical inventory. Performs related duties as needed to successfully fulfill the functions of the position. Performs other duties essential to the operation as directed by his/her supervisor. Job Requirements
Required Education : None 12 months experience with turf management Skills : Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally Basic math skills Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions. Customer Service Certifications : Valid Oklahoma Driver's License in order to drive University equipment, or ability to obtain within 30-days of hire. Advertised Physical Requirements : Must be able to bend, reach, grasp, and engage in repetitive motions. Must be able to lift, stand, move, crouch, push and pull. Position works outside in varied weather patterns. Department Preferences : Previous professional experience in landscaping or groundskeeping. Previous experience working in the turf and landscape maintenance industry. Previous experience completing preventative maintenance. Ability to obtain a Category 3A Certified Applicator License from the OK Dept of Agriculture, Food & Forestry within 6 months of hire. Supervision : Will report to the Director of Golf Course Grounds & Maintenance and will receive general supervision from leadership grounds personnel.
