The Lead Superintendent oversees the construction effort on complex, larg e healthcare projects or multiple healthcare projects to ensure it is constructed safely in accordance with design, budget and schedule. This position directly supervises and mentors the Superintendents assigned to the project/s, collaborates with the project management team, manages the Owner’s expectations, ensures productivity of subcontractors, and provides leadership in complying with applicable project, Barton Malow, and regulation requirements. The Lead Superintendent provides leadership, strategic planning and embraces innovation as the construction industry evolves.

Responsibilities

Enforces corporate safety policies on jobsites, including pre-task safety planning and providing key responsibility for safety compliance in the field.\nSupports sales efforts and project pursuits and promotes Barton Malow in the healthcare industry.\nLeads project team with the establishment of the overall project build strategy and work flow and helps document those in site logistics and phasing plans.\nOversees set-up of baseline project schedule(s) and schedule updates; ensures all activities take place on or ahead of scheduled dates; supervises, coordinates and sequences subcontractor’s work to minimize interference between various trades and owner activities on large, complex project or multiple projects ; maintains labor harmony.\nOversees and coordinates with each trade holding permits and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) to ensure compliance with inspection process and progress is in line with schedule, planning , and commissioning process.\nAssists with development of work scopes and front-end documents for bidding to create clear and concise scopes of work based on full understanding of the contract documents and applicable work rules/jurisdictions; assists with bid process including participation in post-bid interviews and answering bidder questions.\nPartners with Project Executives with management of overall budget and forecasting of usage, by helping to control cost and monitoring potential changes from contractors, including time and materials.\nAttends internal and external (with owners and designers) project meetings to provide field progress reports, awareness of challenges faced, and help problem-solve on construction activities.\nManages the installation of the work in the field to the quality standards required for the project.\nSupports the success of the project team, specifically upcoming Superintendents, by sharing lessons learned and training/mentoring; acts as a career advocate.

Requirements

Minimum 15 years' experience in the healthcare construction industry on large and complex projects\nExperience leading large healthcare projects greater than or equal to $500 million\nMinimum of 8 years of direct supervision of projects teams including trades\nWilling to travel throughout the Southeast region\nRegional experience and contractor knowledge\nStrong negotiation skills to resolve field issues with subcontractor, design team and/or owner\nOSHA 30

Responsibilities

Assist the Field Superintendent in coordinating daily construction activities on‑site, ensuring adherence to project schedules and safety protocols

Supervise subcontractors and labor crews, providing clear direction and ensuring work is performed according to plans, specifications, and quality standards

Monitor project progress using construction management software such as ProCore and updating schedules and tracking milestones regularly

Review blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to verify accuracy and facilitate smooth workflow on‑site

Conduct quality control inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations (OSHA) and project specifications

Manage site documentation including daily reports, incident logs, RFIs (Requests for Information), and change orders

Support project budgeting efforts by tracking costs and assisting with construction estimating using HeavyBid or similar tools

Requirements

The right candidate must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Low‑Rise to Mid‑Rise Apartments, Mixed use Residential and Commercial industry.

Proven experience in construction management with a strong background in supervising construction sites and teams

Familiarity with construction management software such as ProCore

Knowledge of contracts, project scheduling, budgeting, blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and construction estimating

Hands‑on experience with heavy equipment, testing tools like ohmmeters and familiarity with pipeline projects is a plus

Demonstrated ability to read technical drawings and schematics accurately

Strong understanding of OSHA safety standards and best practices for maintaining a safe work environment

Excellent management skills with the ability to supervise teams effectively while fostering collaboration

Construction site experience in diverse environments including infrastructure or pipeline projects is highly desirable

Strong knowledge of construction site operations, including scheduling, budgeting, and quality control.

Understanding of OSHA regulations and safety protocols.
