HSBC’s Corporate and Institutional Banking (“CIB”) business provides tailored financial solutions to corporate and institutional clients worldwide. Within CIB, the Capital Markets & Advisory (“CMA”) division focuses on providing investment banking solutions.
This is an Analyst role on the Resources, Industrials and Energy Transition (“RIET”) team, which sits within the CMA’s sector division. The US RIET team supports clients across two core sector areas: (1) Industrials, and (2) Power, Utilities, and Renewable Energy (“PURE”).The US RIET team engages with corporate and sponsor clients, providing holistic corporate-finance advisory and related financing solutions.
The US RIET team is responsible for origination and execution in the following areas: leveraged and acquisition finance, debt capital markets, strategic equity and financing, corporate risk solutions, project and infrastructure finance, structured finance, private credit, and ratings advisory.
As an Analyst, Capital Markets & Advisory - Resources, Industrials and Energy Transition (RIET) you will:
Create financial models, including three-statement, LBO and merger models that incorporate scenario and sensitivity analysis, return analysis, accretion / dilution analysis, and capital structure and credit rating assessments
Develop valuations that include DCF analysis, trading comparables, transaction comparables, and sum-of-the-parts
Conduct detailed company research that includes SEC filings, company presentations, earnings transcripts, and broker research
Generate ideas for clients by identifying potential M&A targets and JV partners, leveraging our international platform
Prepare client-facing materials such as pitchbooks
Monitor industry trends, regulatory dynamics, and macro drivers
Coordinate with internal stakeholders and product teams as part of a holistic, financing-led client coverage model
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Math, Accounting, or another analytically rigorous field
A background in investment banking or private equity
Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
Proficiency in financial modelling and valuation
Experience in developing client-facing presentations
Experience with common databases (such as Factset, CapIQ, Bloomberg, etc)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power Point
High levels of motivation and strong work ethic
The position requires a self-confident person who is highly motivated and reliable, with strong team spirit
FINRA Series 63 and 79 licenses. These can be obtained after joining if not currently held
