This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Early Childhood Director is responsible for leading and expanding high-quality youth development initiatives, including our Forchetti Family YMCA Center for Early Learning and our Half Day Preschool programs located in the DSC Trojan Learning Center. This role develops and implements strategic practices that foster growth, ensure excellence in program delivery, and strengthen community partnerships.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum age 21 required.

Must meet one of the following minimum education requirements:

A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education or elementary education with a kindergarten endorsement and grades of c or better.

Any Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university must include one of the following:

Fifteen credit hours in college level courses with documented content relating to the needs, skills, development, or teaching methods of children 6 years of age or younger and grades of c or better.

A CDA

A two-year associate degree in early childhood education from an accredited college or university, with grades of c or better and a minimum of three years of experience in an early childhood program.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

Fulfillment of state-specific hiring standards, including annual in-service hours, medical examinations, and immunizations, and completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.

Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

First Aid, CPR, AED, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Child Abuse prevention, Civil Rights, CACFP food service training prior to direct contact with children.
