The Benefits and Compensation Specialist administers university‑wide benefits and compensation programs, coordinating benefits administration, leave management, compensation support, and employee service to ensure accuracy, compliance, and high‑level customer support across HR operations. Responsibilities
Assist employees with benefit and retirement questions by interpreting policies through email, phone, and in‑person support. Help administer employee benefit programs including health, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives. Assist with benefits‑related events such as wellness screenings, flu shot clinics, Benefits Fair, Retirement Seminars, and Service Awards. Support and maintain the leave administration process, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of all leaves, processing tuition assistance requests, and serving as point of contact for the program; collaborate closely with Payroll. Serve as point of contact for general benefit and retirement questions, maintaining a shared email inbox, answering phone calls, and meeting in person; resolve employee questions by interpreting policies. Facilitate the Employee Separation Process by ensuring impacted employees are provided with necessary information; monitor, track, and report separation data. Maintain benefit and retirement records, initiating new‑hire benefits, processing changes, assisting with Open Enrollment, and supporting benefit communications as needed. Support compliance efforts with ACA and other state/federal regulations; assist with required reporting. Assist with compensation administration, including salary analysis and processing approved pay actions. Gather and organize data for salary reviews or market comparisons as requested by HR and leadership. Provide compensation‑related information to employees and supervisors within established policies and guidelines. Assist the Benefits Manager with the coordination and facilitation of New Employee Orientation; serve as back‑up in the Manager’s absence. Assist with Retirement processing, from certification of service to State presentation of retiree plaques. Create and maintain electronic forms system, ensuring timely disposition of actions and updating department electronic forms as needed. Maintain benefit and compensation data by entering, updating, and verifying information to ensure accuracy. Perform all other duties as assigned. Required Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver’s license. Minimum of four (4) years of related experience OR minimum of two (2) years of direct Human Resources experience. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Required Documents
