Credit Valuation Associate | New York, NY | Hybrid

Overview

A global alternative investment manager is seeking a Credit Valuation Associate to support valuation and portfolio monitoring across its credit platform. The role partners closely with senior valuation leadership and works cross-functionally with investment teams, fund control, operations, and third-party valuation firms. This position offers hands-on exposure to public and private credit vehicles, complex capital structures, and end-to-end valuation governance across a large, diversified portfolio of illiquid investments. Key Responsibilities

Support the quarterly valuation process across a large portfolio of private and public credit investments Coordinate with investment teams and third-party valuation firms to determine fair value conclusions in accordance with industry standards Prepare and maintain valuation models for illiquid assets, including private loans, preferred equity, and structured credit, utilizing methodologies such as DCF and enterprise valuation Participate in portfolio review meetings, providing insight on investment performance, valuation drivers, and key assumptions Produce valuation materials for internal committees, boards, and senior management, as well as ad-hoc investor reporting Assist with valuation policy oversight, internal controls, and support for regulatory and public reporting requirements Investment Data Management & Governance

Partner with investment professionals to ensure accurate setup and ongoing maintenance of deal-level data from close through realization Maintain consistency and integrity of investment data across systems, including capital structure, transaction details, and performance metrics Support firmwide data governance initiatives, including documentation of data definitions, lineage, and ownership Coordinate with operations, fund control, and technology teams to ensure timely communication of distressed or restructured investments Assist in process improvement initiatives related to data management, valuation workflows, and reporting efficiency Cross-Functional & Operational Support

Liaise between front office, valuation specialists, fund accounting, and administrators to ensure smooth execution of valuation deliverables Manage and coordinate offshore valuation support teams during quarterly valuation cycles Support senior valuation leadership on ad-hoc analytical projects and platform initiatives Qualifications

2–5+ years of experience in valuation, portfolio analytics, or related roles focused on credit products Hands-on experience modeling illiquid credit instruments (e.g., private loans, preferred equity, structured products) Solid foundation in valuation methodologies, including discounted cash flow and enterprise valuation approaches Strong Excel and financial modeling skills with high attention to detail Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field CPA, CFA, or progress toward a credential is a plus, but not required
