This position performs the duties of the court bailiff and attends scheduled Circuit Court, Grand Jury, and Civil hearings, as well as Master‑in‑Equity foreclosure sales, workers’ compensation hearings, and CDV Court as needed.
Responsibilities
Provide courtroom support during Grand Jury, civil hearings, master‑in‑equity foreclosure sales, CDV court, workers’ compensation hearings, and all other scheduled Circuit Court dates.
Prepare the judge’s chambers, courtrooms, jury assembly room, and jury rooms with appropriate supplies and light housekeeping tasks to ready the rooms for the day’s business.
Ensure jurors remain sequestered, escort them to meals, their cars, and any other necessary locations.
This position reports to the Chief Bailiff and takes direction from judges. The role is routine in nature and the major challenge is ensuring jurors are safe and proceedings are not interrupted by the public. The job is an individual contributor with specific physical requirements such as lifting up to 20 pounds, driving, and traveling.
Minimum Level of Job‑Related Education: High School.
Minimum Amount of Job‑Related Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a similar environment.
