Overview
Join a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as the Director of Financial Operations at Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, Illinois. We are seeking an experienced leader who will partner with clinical operations, identify financial opportunities and drive financial performance to proactively ensure the fiscal health of the organization. They will also deliver effective fiscal presentations related to budget and reimbursements by collecting, preparing and analyzing data, along with financial feasibility studies.
Who You Are
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting required. CPA preferred.
8 years of hospital finance and operations experience, preferably at a standalone facility within a large corporation or complex healthcare system.
Advanced knowledge of labor productivity standards, revenue cycle performance, and hospital financial plans including operating and capital budgets.
Sound knowledge of healthcare accounting, finance and cost controls with skills in business acumen, strategic planning, organizational assessment, highly developed leadership and quantitative analytic abilities.
Ability to analyze information, present data, and draw conclusions by applying analysis techniques, using data to drive positive performance.
Advanced interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively and exercise a high degree of diplomacy, discretion and collaboration in dealing with constituencies at all levels, from entry-level staff to surgical provider partnerships to the executive suite.
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills. Ability to speak articulately in high-level forums and to answer difficult questions with confidence.
Effective ability to bring clarity to complex issues and coach problem-solving techniques, with the ability to model a creative and proactive ‘can-do’ attitude and lead change as needed.
An individual of unquestioned integrity and moral character who represents the values of the organization.
Fluent in ERP/financial software systems including Oracle Cloud, and ability to harness information for presentation and insights.

What you’ll do as the Director of Financial Operations
Provide leadership, direction and supervision through a Shared Services model for accounting, strategic finance, business referral patterns, and revenue analysis and payer structures.
Support the System Vice President and Service Line Leaders in developing and setting the financial strategy and direction for UCM operations in Harvey, IL and Crown Point, IN to drive financial performance.
Develop and implement best-in-class financial and analytic operations leading to optimal financial effectiveness, service excellence and clinical quality.
Work closely with departmental leaders by acting as a business partner to assist with budget preparation, while providing ongoing communication of financial, productivity, resource utilization performance, leakage, KPIs to benchmark variance review along with other financial performance indicators.
Lead the development and preparation of all financial plans including annual operating and capital plans, and support the Health System’s long-range financial plans and performance improvement initiatives for presentation to executive leadership.
Analyze and report on variances to budget and work with departmental and divisional management to develop corrective action plans to meet financial performance goals.
Analyze the regional financial and operational position based on current, past and future trends and budgeted levels using variance analysis, benchmarks, productivity targets, cost, supply consumption, and established plans.
Ensure policy and procedure manuals are maintained, reviewed, and revised annually and are available for audit and control purposes.
Participate in the interview, selection, orientation and ongoing development of management and professional employees in the department to ensure a highly engaged top-performing team.
Foster efforts to positively impact the organization’s visibility, image, and relationship with its surrounding community.
Lead, develop and mentor team members to support the financial operation by leveraging strengths and advancing skill sets. Promote a positive and collaborative work culture.
