Overview Community Canvassers and Team Leaders

– Hiring Immediately – $22+ opportunities to earn $150-$360 per week in bonuses. Full-time & Part-time. Help us gather signatures in San Diego to qualify an important local measure which, if passed, will support city union workers in negotiating a long-overdue wage increase. From January through March, our team will engage directly with voters at high-traffic community locations to collect signatures and build support. This is face-to-face petitioning at public sites, not door-to-door canvassing or fundraising.

This role is a great opportunity to gain experience in Leadership, Communication & Advocacy, Community Outreach & Engagement, Campaign Work, Public Policy, and Social Enterprise.

Get paid well!

Canvassing positions start at $24/hour. Team Lead positions start at $26/hour. We offer paid training, sick pay, and bonuses for friend referrals. Part-time and full-time positions are available. All staff are guaranteed an hourly wage plus any earned bonuses; we do not pay by the signature.

Engage with the public in a friendly and respectful manner

Deliver a clear campaign message and collect complete petition signatures from voters

Participate in staff training to improve outreach skills

Follow the campaign’s safety protocols

Responsibilities – Team Leader

The Canvasser Responsibilities plus:

Manage a small group of canvassers in the field by checking in with them periodically throughout the day and debriefing with them at the end of the day

Ensure each canvasser has all the materials they need to be successful

Assist directors with canvasser training and administrative work

The Ideal Candidate

Passionate about progressive politics and fostering democracy

Strong communication skills; you should enjoy working with other people and be willing and excited to speak with everyone

Hard worker who will stay motivated to engage as many people as possible

Open to new challenges and interested in building their campaign skills

Culturally competent and able to respectfully engage with teammates and the community

Prior canvassing, petitioning, or field experience preferred but not required
