
We are conducting a search for a
high performing wealth advisory firm
for a
Lead Tax Advisor
to serve as the in house tax subject matter expert and leader of the tax client service function. This is a highly visible role partnering directly with financial advisors and clients to deliver proactive planning, oversee compliance, and build scalable tax operations.
Position Overview In this role, you will act as the
technical tax lead
on client planning teams, ensuring tax strategy is integrated into broader wealth planning. You will also provide
people leadership
to the tax service team and maintain high standards across compliance, planning, and client experience.
Key Responsibilities
Establish and maintain trusted relationships with clients as the
tax technical authority
within their planning team
Participate in client meetings and deliver clear, actionable tax strategy and recommendations
Partner with the wealth advisory team on tax planning workflows, modeling, and implementation support
Support growth efforts by participating in
new client onboarding
and transition planning
Lead the tax client service function across
tax compliance and proactive planning
Perform final review and sign-off on tax filings, including federal and state returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and estates
Oversee client tax projections and manage tax audit support as needed
Coach, mentor, and develop team members through consistent, real-time feedback and performance guidance
Qualifications and Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and
CPA, JD, or EA
required (Master’s in Taxation or JD strongly preferred)
Minimum 5 years of experience preparing/reviewing
individual, partnership, fiduciary, estate, and gift tax returns
Strong working knowledge of tax data gathering, analysis, and evaluation
Advanced proficiency with Windows and productivity tools (MS Office, Excel, Adobe Acrobat) and the ability to ramp quickly on new platforms such as
CCH Axcess Tax, BNA Tax Planner , and research resources (e.g.,
RIA Checkpoint , BNA portfolios or equivalent)
Strong tax research capability and working knowledge of the Internal Revenue Code, Treasury Regulations, and other applicable guidance
Demonstrated ability to manage high volume workloads and time-sensitive deliverables
Preferred
Experience with ADP, QuickBooks, and CRM/database tools (e.g., Salesforce or similar)
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with professionals across a range of tax fluency levels
High ownership mentality with comfort operating in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
Work Model This is an
in-office, full-time, exempt
role within a
collaborative office based culture , with significant flexibility built into the environment.
Compensation and Benefits Base Salary:
$130,000 – $160,000 Incentive/Equity:
Eligible for discretionary year-end profit sharing, Restricted Equity Units granted at hire, and an accelerated path to partner conversion upon vesting
