
Baccalaureate Programs Specialist

The Baccalaureate Programs Specialist position works closely with the Associate Vice Presidents from the schools of Engineering, Design & Construction, and Business, Health & Public Safety, as well as the Deans, Program Managers, faculty and Student Affairs to develop and implement efficient and effective student recruitment, enrollment, retention and completion initiatives. This is a direct student contact position.
Essential Functions
Advises students on functions pertaining to the application process, including requirements of transcripts, acceptable documents to verify residency for tuition purposes; the financial aid process, as well as the enrollment process. Receives and processes all documents, either in person or electronically, and determines acceptability of all documents. Provides academic advisement services to all prospective, new and returning students, including those involved in Baccalaureate programs. Works directly with baccalaureate degree seeking students to help them identify and select appropriate courses for their career path and educational goals. Tracks student progress through reports, queries, degree audits, third party tools such as Starfish and follow-up contacts. Analyzes and interprets various departmental or functional requirements for baccalaureate students in order to enable them to assume increasing self-reliance in re-enrollment processes in subsequent terms. Provides supervisor with feedback of departmental gaps that impact the baccalaureate student experience from initial contact through re-enrollment and graduation. Provides in-depth knowledge and assistance to baccalaureate students and visitors on baccalaureate programs and program services. Organizes and conducts recruitment and retention activities such as information sessions, Decision Day, educational fairs, and other external events. Implements, conducts and participates in new baccalaureate student orientation and advising. Makes appropriate referrals to campus offices for meetings with academic departments, tutoring services, counseling, services for students with disabilities, veteran’s affairs, career development, and other support services. Collaborates with Academic Affairs to facilitate and enhance baccalaureate student recruitment, advising, registration, retention and program completion. Actively participates with supervisor and other staff members in planning and review of operational procedures, including meetings, Convocation and other College events. Performs all site and position specific responsibilities as assigned. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. One year of experience working with students in an educational setting or related experience. Desired Qualifications
Academic advisement experience in an educational setting. Knowledge of Florida College System policies and procedures regarding baccalaureate programs. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS And ABILITIES
Knowledge of college enrollment functions, including admissions, placement testing, advising, and financial aid applications. Excellent Microsoft Office Skills and knowledge of enterprise-wide student information systems. Ability to work well in a highly collaborative and team-oriented environment. Strong service excellence skills and the ability to provide excellent customer service. Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work in a flexible and fast paced environment, exercising good judgment and discretion without close supervision. Ability to use multiple modes of contact to serve the needs of students including face-to-face interaction, electronic interaction, and interaction via telephone.
