Cetera is seeking a
Public Relations Specialist
to join our dynamic Corporate Communications team. This role will help elevate Cetera’s brand presence, strengthen our share of voice with industry and national news media while ensuring consistent delivery of impactful, day-to-day communications.
The ideal candidate has 3 + years of PR experience , preferably in financial services, with strong writing skills.
Responsibilities
Media Relations:
Draft and distribute press releases, pitches, and media statements; engage proactively with journalists and trade reporters; support both proactive and reactive media opportunities.
Awards & Recognition:
Own the awards and rankings calendar, ensuring thoughtful submissions that highlight Cetera’s competitive differentiators.
Thought Leadership:
Develop bylined articles, executive quotes, op-eds, and speaking abstracts to position Cetera leaders as industry experts.
Agency & Vendor Management:
Help manage day-to-day agency interactions, ensuring two-way accountability and high-quality output aligned with KPIs and deadlines.
Social Integration:
Partner with the social/digital team to amplify PR moments across owned channels.
M&A Support (as needed):
Support communications leadership on integration announcements.
Crisis & Issues Response:
Support rapid response needs, including drafting holding statements, FAQs, and internal talking points.
Measurement & Reporting:
Track press coverage, awards, and share-of-voice metrics; provide regular reporting and insights to leadership.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or related field.
3+ years of public relations experience; financial services, wealth management, or investment management background strongly preferred.
Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, adept at both simplifying complex topics and handling a heavy writing workload.
Ability to manage multiple assignments at once, with support from experienced communications leaders who help you prioritize and improve your work.
Ability to manage PR agencies and external relationships.
Comfort working across functional teams, with a collaborative and proactive approach.
M&A or financial relations communications experience a plus.
Compensation The base annual salary range for this role is $70,000 to $85,000, plus a competitive performance-based bonus. Base annual salary depends on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and location. Base annual salary may also differ significantly due to geography and cost of labor considerations.
