We’re hiring a

Social Media Marketer / Social Media Manager

to take full ownership of Peterson Academy’s social media presence as we scale our community and drive enrollment. You’ll shape how we communicate our mission, delivering unfiltered scholarship, and making higher education affordable—to a global audience. This is a hands-on role with significant autonomy: you’ll own strategy, content creation, community engagement, and performance across platforms, working closely with our content, product, and leadership teams to turn followers into enrolled students and active community members. High expectations, direct impact on growth, and full responsibility for results.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute social media strategy aligned with our mission to reach intellectually serious audiences and drive enrollments

Own day-to-day management and growth of key channels (Instagram, X/Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn)

Create and schedule compelling content—including short-form video, graphics, threads, and posts—that reflects our clear, no-nonsense voice and resonates deeply

Manage community engagement: respond thoughtfully, foster meaningful discussions, handle inquiries, and build genuine connections with students and prospective learners

Plan and run paid social campaigns (Meta, TikTok, X, LinkedIn) with tight targeting, creative testing, budget management, and focus on ROI/enrollment conversions

Collaborate with instructors, content creators, designers, and leadership to produce cohesive campaigns and amplify course launches

Stay ahead of platform changes, trends, and competitor activity to keep our approach sharp and proactive

Track and report KPIs (engagement, reach, conversions, ROAS, growth) using analytics tools; turn data into clear recommendations and optimizations

Identify opportunities for UGC, influencer/creator partnerships, and viral moments that align with our values

Requirements

3+ years of professional social media marketing/management experience (in-house or agency, ideally for mission-driven or education/tech brands)

Proven track record growing accounts and delivering measurable results (follower growth, engagement, conversions)—share specific metrics/case studies

Strong expertise in current formats, especially short-form video (Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts); hands-on creation/editing experience preferred

Excellent writing skills with ability to adapt tone: clear, direct, intellectually rigorous, occasionally provocative

Comfortable with data and analytics: fluent in key metrics (ER, CTR, ROAS, conversions) and using tools like native insights, Google Analytics, or scheduling platforms

Experience managing paid social budgets, A/B testing, and optimizing for performance

Self-directed and accountable; able to prioritize in a fast-moving environment

Nice to Have

Experience in education, intellectual content, or mission-driven spaces

Familiarity with tools like Canva, CapCut/Premiere Rush, Hootsuite/Sprout Social

Understanding of community building in niche, high-intent audiences

Interest in philosophy, psychology, classical education, or free speech/discourse topics
