
Overview
The Labor Relations Unit (LRU) is responsible for providing expert consultation to State of Nevada public sector employees, State employee representatives, State of Nevada agency representatives, and State agency management in the area of collective bargaining and contract application. The goal of the LRU is to promote the development and growth of collaborative labor-management relationships within the State and to provide accurate and comprehensive guidance that will empower agency management to make informed decisions as labor challenges arise. The LRU provides expert advice, technical guidance, training, and policy support to the agencies concerning labor-management and labor relations matters arising within the collective bargaining units. The Labor Relations Negotiator serves as the State’s principal representative in all matters related to collective bargaining with recognized employee organizations. Operates under the direction of the Division of Human Resource Management Administrator, and is responsible for developing, coordinating, and executing the State’s labor negotiation strategies to ensure fair, lawful, and fiscally responsible labor agreements. Develops and executes negotiation strategies; provides guidance to agencies on labor-management and contract application issues; and represents the State in negotiations with employee organizations. Qualifications
Five or more years of applicable experience with a minimum of three years of supervisory/managerial experience. Associates or above degree preferred, or a combination of experience and education. Legal & Regulatory Knowledge; Political Acumen; Exceptional Communicator; Collaborative Leadership; Ethical Leadership & Judgment; Public sector and Nevada labor law experience preferred. JD or MPA encouraged. Additional information
