collaborate with Pfizer partners to grow appropriate use of Pfizer Vaccines and the overall immunization rates of organized customers by identifying shared objectives, aligning resources and deploying innovative solutions to achieve targeted clinical and business results. The primary focus is to ensure access to the Pfizer vaccine portfolio and improve immunization rates through productive relationships, influence, and, when appropriate, contract negotiation. Areas of customer focus include administrative and decision-making roles at integrated health systems, large medical groups, health plans, state and local health departments, purchasing groups, Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), Independent Physician Associations (IPAs), professional associations and advocacy groups/coalitions. A VAM must strictly abide by all company policies and applicable government regulations. Approximately 25%–50% travel is required depending on geography.
ROLES RESPONSIBILITIES
Form collaborative partnerships with decision-makers at large integrated delivery networks and medical groups to conduct need assessments and deliver compliant solutions that increase access and the appropriate use of Pfizer vaccines. Develop productive relationships with decision makers at managed care organizations and other health plans to ensure access and the appropriate use of Pfizer vaccines and programs. This includes understanding the commercial, Medicaid and Medicare landscapes as they relate to Pfizer vaccines. Develop productive relationships with State Departments of Health Immunization Program Management to understand state policies and maximize utilization of Pfizer Vaccines and increase vaccination rates. This can include engaging the largest public (VFC) clinics and practices with local and regional sales partners. Lead the local coordination of internal colleagues at targeted accounts to ensure alignment across stakeholders and maximize pull-through of access opportunities with the Pfizer Vaccines portfolio. Prioritize customers, opportunities and projects to maximize impact using available data and stakeholder input for optimal decision making. Execute marketing programs across customer segments, present approved materials, and develop programs with near-, mid-, and long-term market and financial impact. Negotiate and manage contracts with targeted IDSs, Medical Groups and Buying Groups, collaborating with the PCA contracting team and aligning to brand contracting strategy. Drive innovation and new approaches to exceed BU business objectives by proactively engaging leadership. Collaborate with all customer-facing teams (Internal Medicine, Oncology, Government Relations, Medical, IS, KAM, etc.) to ensure a one Pfizer approach and prioritized customer focus. Stay current with the changing healthcare environment, including ACA implementations, health IT and quality metrics; educate colleagues on insights gained and the impact on vaccine access across customer segments. Provide local and customer-specific insights to marketing and strategy teams for market materials. Cultivate relationships and gain support from KOLs and organizational decision makers (public and private). Maintain active customer plans and data sets via planning resources (iPlan) and share information with business partners. Collaborate with local immunization panels, AAP and AAFP chapters, and coalitions to promote compliant immunization practices. Meet or exceed product performance objectives for the assigned portfolio; KPIs include vaccine utilization, Health IT/protocol development, contract closure, collaboration, and program execution. Demonstrate use of the organizational selling approach (PACE) and continue developing capabilities through available trainings. Adhere to Pfizer Values and Compliance principles.
QUALIFICATIONS
BS/BA Degree required; Master’s degree preferred. 5–10 years of pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical marketing/sales experience with a proven track record. Prior team management and/or account management experience or an IDP-aligned development role with leadership across peer and manager groups. Demonstrated ability to assess account needs and align tools and resources to drive performance. Strong business acumen, problem solving, strategic thinking, and project management skills, with excellent planning and prioritization. Demonstrated leadership, collaboration and effective use of resources to drive performance. Advanced negotiation skills; contracting experience preferred. Experience leveraging data to prioritize opportunities; vaccine or specialty product experience preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills; proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook). Candidate must live in or relocate to a location within commutable distance to the territory headquarter city as approved by the Vaccine Account Director and the National Account Management Lead. Approximately 25%–50% travel is required. Valid US driver’s license and driving record in compliance with company standards. DUI/DWI or other impaired driving citations within the past 7 years will disqualify.
