Marketing Associate, Communications & Public Engagement

Marketing Associate – an entry‑level role supporting the Partnership for Public Service’s marketing activities in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Associate helps build the brand and raise awareness about key priorities and programs through a comprehensive digital marketing strategy. Position Overview

The Partnership is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to building better government and a stronger democracy. The mission is to support and safeguard the apolitical civil service, educate the public, and inspire faith in government at all levels. Essential Functions / Primary Responsibilities

Marketing

Write clear, compelling cross‑channel copy and draft marketing and outreach material. Carry out the blog strategy: create innovative series, guide topics, edit processes, manage publishing and promotion. Draft and distribute engaging marketing emails promoting leadership development programs, internships, research reports, policy work, events and other initiatives. Oversee the weekly e‑newsletter: craft concise headers, ensure error‑free content that follows the style guide. Draft content for marketing tools including website pop‑up ads, landing pages and Google Ads campaigns. Research SEO & Google Ad keywords to inform ad copy and target new audiences. Lead small‑scale marketing/communications plans and support the implementation of large‑scale plans. Monitor and analyze campaign results across all channels to improve marketing tactics. Use Google Analytics, SEMRush, HubSpot, Sprout Social and other tools to make insightful marketing decisions. Social Media

Develop, write, edit, and schedule daily posts for various social platforms with the Senior Digital Communications Manager. Monitor comments, direct messages and mentions; respond to inquiries, resolve issues and foster community interaction. Assist in developing social media strategies, plan content calendars and identify opportunities for growth and promotion. Support social video planning and production for various social platforms. Track key metrics (followers, engagement, traffic) and report on performance to management using data to inform decisions. Other duties as necessary. Key Competencies

Strong written and verbal communication skills crafting external messaging via multiple channels. Solid understanding of traditional and digital marketing principles. Strong proofreading skills, eye for detail and concern for quality. Preference for making quick, effective and data‑driven decisions. Excellent interpersonal skills with a customer focus and ability to manage different personalities. Demonstrated ability to work in a nonpartisan environment. Strongly motivated by the mission and values of the Partnership for Public Service. Required / Preferred Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing or related field, or equivalent professional work and/or military experience. 1‑2 years of experience, which may include internships, marketing, strategic communications, public relations or an equivalent field. Preferred experience with email marketing and social media management systems and knowledge of AP Style. Supervisory Responsibilities / Reporting Structure

Reports to the Marketing Manager. No direct supervisory responsibilities of full‑time staff but may supervise a communications intern. Work Environment

Hybrid (remote + office) in Washington, DC. Permanent resident in the Washington, DC, Maryland or Virginia area required. Expected to work in the office on average three days per week – Wednesday is the required in‑office day. Office equipment includes computer, telephone, printer/scanner and MS Office. Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

At‑will, term position starting January 2026 through December 2027. Full‑time, exempt from overtime. Monday–Friday 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Eastern with flexibility. Occasional evenings or weekend activities may be required. Travel

Occasional out‑of‑area and/or overnight travel during business days. Salary

Starting salary range $52,500–$54,500. Compensation package includes competitive salary; medical, dental and vision coverage; life insurance; long‑ and short‑term disability; 401(k) with 4 % employer match; training and development; commuter benefits; 15 days annual leave, 10 days sick leave, all federal holidays and the day after Thanksgiving off; on‑site exercise facility.
