Overview
It's more than a job
As a Customs Specialist at Kuehne+Nagel, your job is to optimise logistics to keep our global supply chains running smoothly. Your work makes both special and ordinary moments possible for people around the world. For example, your work could ensure that a global product launch happens on time—such as ethically sourced beauty and bath products stocked at local stores for your loved one's self-care routine. It's import and export work, but it's also so much more than we imagine.
How you create impact
Conduct accurate HTS classification of goods in accordance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and international customs laws, rulings, and regulations
Analyze technical product data, schematics, and specifications to determine proper tariff codes
Draft, review, and submit binding ruling requests to CBP, as needed
Provide advisory support to clients on classification impacts related to duty rates, free trade agreements, quotas, and other import compliance considerations
Maintain and update classification databases and audit records for client portfolios
Collaborate with internal compliance, legal, and trade operations teams to support broader customs and trade initiatives
Monitor and interpret regulatory updates, including HTS revisions, Explanatory Notes, and WCO classification decisions
Participate in classification audits and respond to CBP inquiries, CF-28s, and CF-29s, as required
What we would like you to bring
Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Business, Supply Chain, or related field
3+ years of experience in customs classification, brokerage, or trade compliance
U.S. Customs Broker License required
In-depth knowledge of the HTSUS and General Rules of Interpretation (GRIs)
Strong analytical and research skills, with ability to interpret legal and technical documents
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and trade compliance systems (e.g., SAP GTS, Integration Point, MIC, etc.)
