Beyond TV news distribution, our newsrooms publish via the Spectrum News app and connected television. What you’ll do In this role, you’ll ensure major stories are covered during the shift by coordinating news teams, resources, and logistics. You will establish priorities and assign news units to cover them. You will organize the news gathering team’s duties and collaborate on article ideas. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that creates compelling, timely, and accurate content to connect with viewers across traditional and digital platforms.

Responding to breaking news quickly and effectively; organizing live field staff and the chopper.
Identifying news events to cover and coordinating with editors to decide which reporter should cover each event.

What you’ll bring to Spectrum News Required Qualifications
Experience:
Assignment desk experience in a television newsroom — 4+ years
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Communication or comparable television work experience preferred
Technical Skills:
Ability to develop sources
Skills:
Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication; ability to clearly communicate solutions; ability to relate well with populations
Abilities:
Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and work under time pressure
Travel:
Must be open to travel to discover important stories in your neighborhood and interact with the community
Schedule:
Ability to work different shifts or longer shifts due to breaking news and severe weather emergencies; willing to work weekends and holidays
Working Conditions:
Works inside a climate-controlled environment; open newsroom with a semi-noisy environment
