Position Summary
The Supplemental Health Account Executive is a field-based supplemental health sales role that partners with the Cigna field sales and account management teams to drive product growth. This role is aligned by geography and drives all supplemental health opportunities for a designated Cigna sales office(s). Key areas of expertise include: Product solutions: Accidental Injury (AI)/Critical Illness (CI)/Hospital Indemnity (HI) and corresponding pricing/UW strategies Enrollment solutions: Internal capabilities and external options Administrative solutions: Billing and claim processes Note: This position is based in Plano, TX and will service the North Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana markets. The role requires 1-2 days per week in the Plano, TX office and more than 50% weekly travel throughout the local market with occasional out-of-state travel/overnights. Job Responsibilities
The Supplemental Health Account Executive is responsible for proactive and consultative outreach into the local markets to increase the institutional knowledge of Cigna\'s Supplemental Health solutions. The role also includes relationship management with external supplemental health sales experts, brokers, and consultants. Drive Market Level Distribution Strategy: Partner with market leadership to develop and execute a strategy to grow AI, CI, and HI product sales within the geography. Focus on clients with 100-3,000 lives, considering broker relationships, growth plans (new and existing business), competitive intel, local trends, and core product strategies. Include product-specific sales reports, forecasts, and updates as part of the strategy. Participation in finalist meetings, underwriting negotiations, and seminars may occur at the market level. Collaboration with matrix partners: Serve as a resource liaison for operations. Participate in internal calls to help operations understand sales needs. Share market feedback so underwriting, pricing, and enrollment can better understand market conditions. This partnership promotes best-practices across sales and matrix partners. Goal Attainment: Be accountable for assigned supplemental health sales goals, including new business, existing business, and persistency bonuses. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience 3+ years of relevant experience Industry experience required History of delivering business results Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, rapidly changing, team-based environment Capable of balancing high-priority, long-term projects with short-term deadlines Ability to foster collaboration and gain support for proposals Excellent oral and written communication skills with executive presence Proven ability to lead in a heavily matrixed environment Incentive Compensation
The Supplemental Health Account Executive is eligible for incentive compensation. Details will be addressed in an annual compensation plan; components may differ year to year and can include any or all of the following: Achievement of sales and retention goals Meeting internal expectations Effective territory management Executing market level strategies Meaningful collaboration with matrix partners If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, internet access must be via a cable broadband or fiber optic provider with speeds of at least 10 Mbps download / 5 Mbps upload.
