Job Overview Within the ACD Project Management department, reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Project Management will provide vision, guidance and support for the team’s projects and hold final budgetary responsibilities for all projects. The Director facilitates the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables, and oversees a number of positions in the Project Management department. This position is based in Santa Ana, CA.
Responsibilities
Lead the planning and implementation of all projects
Define project tasks and resource requirements
Assemble and coordinate project staff, and develop full-scale project plans
Manage project resource allocation
Plan and schedule project timelines
Track project deliverables using appropriate tools
Provide direction and support to the project management team
Monitor and report on progress of all projects to stakeholders continuously
Present reports defining project progress, problems, and solutions
Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs
Conduct project evaluations and assess results

Qualifications

Requires close vision and ability to adjust focus; ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary

Overtime may be necessary as workload dictates (weekdays, weekends, nights, and/or holidays)
Job generally performed in an office environment but may require travel to a client’s office, production facility or industrial/construction site; conditions will vary at each location
May be required to lift up to 25 lbs
Knowledge and Critical Skills / Expertise
Experience with both theoretical and practical aspects of project management
Knowledge of project management techniques and tools based on PMI PMBOK
Direct industry experience in a project management capacity
Proven people‑management experience
Proven strategic planning and risk‑management experience
Proficiency in project‑management software
Exceptional planning, organizing, critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills
Exceptional communication skills
Ability to adapt and succeed in a variety of high‑stress situations
Environmental Safety Requirements
New employee safety training required for all newly hired employees, including safety awareness
All safety related training is provided and tracked by the EHS Manager
Job‑specific training modules deemed necessary by manager or director will be required of all employees on an ongoing basis
Employees are required to wear company‑provided PPE as/when needed (safety shoes, safety glasses, face shields, FR clothing, cryogenic gloves, cryogenic apron, cut‑resistant gloves, safety gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, dust masks and face masks). Failure to comply with safety requirements will result in disciplinary actions, up to and including termination.
Supervisory Responsibility Position has supervisory responsibilities for the project manager and coordinator teams.
Work Environment The job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptops, photocopiers, and smartphones.
Experience and Education
Bachelor’s degree in Project Management or a related engineering field is required
PMP certification preferred
10+ years’ project management experience in a team‑leadership role
